Selling Items on Craigslist is getting to be a chore!
« on: June 19, 2012, 04:48:55 am »
Everytime I try to sell an item on Craigslist, I get a lot of emails from people asking questions that are ALREADY in the AD. People want GREAT items in EXCELLENT condition for pennies. I am thinking about just selling items from a flea market.

I agree with you so very much. I sold a large quantity of baby clothes for $25. The person who was going to buy it emailed me and wanted everything for $20 because she thought I wouldn't have change. Right now I have some items I could sell but it's too much of a hassle. Good luck at the flea market.

I used to have no trouble selling stuff on craigslist, but now all of the sudden I get so much spam its not even worth the hassle. I just listed my car for sale and I must have received 20 spam messages within 48 hours with people wanting me to send the car overseas and "I will get you a Western Union" stuff like that. And it seems whenever I find a good deal to purchase, it is someone saying they are overseas in war and they can mail it. What happened to all the REAL local buyers? And then as the OP stated, you get people who don't read and want a brand new item for 95% off retail price. Flea Markets and Garage Sales are the way to go.

I've had both good and bad luck on Craigslist. I think it depends on what it is and the current market. I haven't tried a flea market yet but need to seriously consider that because I have donated so many things to Goodwill that might have been sold!

Maybe you should put a headline in the ad that says soomething like "PLEASE READ AD THOROUGHLY BEFORE SENDING INQUIRY". I think sometimes people just want clarification before buying something on Craigslist, especially since scammers dwell there.

Just be careful. Last time I tried to sell something on craigslist the email someone sent me was a virus! I really don't understand the point of a virus, honestly. What a waste of time for those people, if they are so smart and can create a virus, they could be putting their smarts to much better use  :dontknow:

Craigslist is not good anymore... I was going to sell some things on Craigslist, but found there were already 350 items in my category on the day I wanted to sell something in and this was at 10 minutes after midnight.

The people that just burn my butt are the idiots who spam with crap of their own, especially the get rich quick  / mlm spammers even when it says DO NOT contact.

Morons!

I was lying in bed the other night, looking up at the stars, and thinking, "Where in the heck is my roof?"

I only tried one time and was not impressed with the way it was handled and seemed like everyone who rsponded had a screw loose. So no more for me . The old saying Burn me once shame on you burn me twice shame on me. I would rather give it to goodwill then mess with those kind of people.

Yeah, it's like the people who ask how much the 99 cent chicken nuggets are at a fast food joint.  =-P

I agree, I got a ton of spam with my last post. Even though it sold for a good price, I think I'll stick with buying :)

I have never sold anything on Craigslist. Thanks for sharing your experience as a seller. Not to mention that it also costs money to post an ad there.

I have been trying to sell my Jeep on there for a month and there is pretty much no interest. I guess the problem is most people want money right now and not stuff.
