what do you think about sex change?

Is it natural? Should someone have the right to do this? What are your thoughts.

Hah what a coincidence as I was just posting sorta about this on your other topic.

I think it's fine. Of course they have a right to do whatever they want with their own bodies - this generally isn't a harmful practice, like suicide or eating disorders. That it's performed by surgeons makes me feel much better (as opposed to people who do at home alterations to their bodies).
Of course, not everyone goes "all the way" to surgical options. Some do just hormones and others just live as their proper gender regardless of their genitals. This is also fine. Everyone is different.

And what is natural? Clownfish change their gender (as do other fish, starfish, some lesser animals, a frog species...)

Off Topic - I think you should post these kind of topics in the sub-forum "Debate & Discuss" since this could potentially turn into a "divisive discussion".

Everyone has a right to do what they want to their body. Everybody gets tatoos why not change everything.

If you mean "Is the surgery natural?" then of course not, but if you mean "Is the desire to have this operation natural?" then it becomes a trickier question... For some people (esp. XXY males (they have two X chromosomes like females and a Y chromosome making them male)) they may have a very legitimate reason why they feel that they were born the wrong gender. So in some cases, I could see how the desire may be natural. I think that as this is something that they are doing to themselves, then they have every right to do so, just as others have the right to decry this as an abomination to God's creation. We live in a free country so as long as you are not infringing on another's rights, then you should be able to do whatever you want.

I have a friend that is going through it right now and he felt he wanted to be a female at a very young age.

I am really not sure how I feel about this subject.
I do feel everyone has a right to make their own decisions.
I would hope any person who decides to have a
sex change would take years to make the decision.

It's not something that should be taken lightly, but I feel like people definitely have the right to do it.  Happiness is so hard to get sometimes, and if this helps someone feel whole and happy, they should definitely have the right to do so.

To each thier own. I just feel awful for those who have to hide who they really are because of society.

I think people should be happy as god made them

There's no evidence that some hypothetical egregore "made" anyone, (aside from specious religious beliefs based upon non-evidentiary "faith", which constitutes evidence of blind faith, not of 'creationism').

"We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes."
-- Gene Roddenberry
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

I think maybe you should go for it if it's what you really care to do. If you end up regretting it later that could be reason to reconsider if at all possible but it is necessary to give it adequate thought prior to operation.

I feel this is the person's choice as long as other people are not asked to foot the bill as I believe I heard one story of such a thing happen.

We know so little about what makes a person believe they are the wrong gender, how can anyone judge them.
