Whats The Easiest Way To Quit Smoking Cigarettes?
« on: July 03, 2012, 04:46:00 am »
I have been told by family that i should try the nicoteen patch or gum. My friends say start using the electronic cigarettes. And some tell me to go cold turkey. I have been smoking at minimum a pack a day for 8 years. What do you think the best way to quit is?

I can only tell you what has worked for me in my experience.

I used an electronic cigarette to help me to stop smoking.
I gradually cut down the number of real cigarettes I smoked a day
until I was completely off them and only smoking the electronic
cigarette.  I have been off real cigarettes for 80 days -- woo hoo

I put up a webpage to keep track of my stats & show how I cut down
http://www.myclickspayme.com/stats.html

Good Luck with whatever method you use.
If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message
Remember that having the right mind set makes all the difference.
You need to want to quit!

There is no easy way to quit smoking.  You must decide that you really want to do it because you want it and not because other people tell you you should.  Keep in mind that it will never be easier than it is today..  Each time you want a cigarette, drink some water and wait 10 minutes.  I quit 4 years ago after 45 years of smoking and I live with smokers without even thinking about wanting one.  You can do it.

Just decide to stop and then do it. That is all there is to breaking any bad habit

I was smoking a half pack a day for over twenty years I quit 6 years ago and I'm grateful to God. See your doctor a lot of people who want to quit never ask their doctor for help. They have medication that helps. Get some chewable vitamin C we lose a lot of that vitamin when we smoke. God bless you and I hope it works out for you. Oranges help you fight cravings. :angel11:

I don't think there is an easy way. It is really up to you! Many have tried different products but winding up smoking again. My cousin tried the electronic cig, couple wks later he went back to smoking normal cigarettes. So it's really up to you!

I don't really think that there is any EASY way to quit smoking cigarettes. I have been using the Ecig way myself and it seems to be working for me, but it may not work the same for everyone. But how ever you try it, good luck to everyone one trying...

I've never smoked so I might not be in the best position to help, but here's my advice.

Try cutting back on cigarettes at first.  One of the girls at my job went from a pack a day to only a few cigarettes by doing that.  Try to balance it out by doing something else.  My friend will drink water when she wants a cigarette or chew a piece of gum.  Another friend would eat carrots when she wanted one.  Try to pick something healthy to do when you want one.  That way you are changing from something negative to something positive that you enjoy.  That way you won't be swapping one bad habit for another.

Another thing to try is if you get past a craving, put some money in a jar (like how much that cigarette would've cost).  That gives you something to look at so, on those bad days, you can see it and realize you've made it past this before.  Then, once you give them up entirely, you'll have some money to reward yourself with.

Cold turkey is very hard for some people, it surely was for me. I invested in an e-cig kit and it was the best idea I've ever had. I can't stand the taste or smell of real cigarettes now and the craving is gone. You can get the e-juice in any level of nicotine--even zero. Look into it!
