The best way to beat the heat is to stay indoors, drink lots of fluids, and eat veggies and fruits with lots of water content like cucumber, strawberries and water melon, and ofcourse use your a/c as needed.

We are now at 87 degrees now but not humid. Talked to my brother in Rochester New York, they were hot and humid. That sure makes it hard to cool down. A swamp cooler is out of the question when it is humid

Just stay inside the house and eat ice cream.

Finally.... the heat wave here in Southwestern PA has broke.... All this week suppose to be in the 80's again finally.  We can handle that, but those high 90's are killers.  Thanks goodness its cooled down.

Took a bus from my small town (no car yet), to major city, to do shopping Great experience except the time period to wait for the next bus. Oh well, such is the  life for a retiree on SS and no other way to go. Hum, seems congress makes all the money no?

We had our 100 degree spell last month and now we have our "monsoons".  NM is usually dry but my barometer has been reading 70% lately.  Whew.  At least it's cooler.

A neat trick I learned is to take something cold, like a blue ice or a canned drink and hold it against your heart.  It'll cool your blood and the cooled blood will circulate and cool you down.  Ahhh, works real good.    8)

Great tip about holding a cool drink close to your heart to help cool you down. Better than against your head I guess.

The best place to hold it is on the inside of your wrist- right where you see the veins.  An athlete told me that once!

Great, I just went to our neigborhood restaurant/sports bar, and held it to my heart, to my wrist, and ouch, that taco hurt, but when I poured a Corona over it ahhhh....  Just kidding, guys, but yeah the beer was cold and good, and made me think of summer, swimming parties and good BBQ's with friends and loved ones, even when it is hot.
