What damages did you suffer from the recent storms??
Were you without power?  If so, for how long?
Did you lose much as a result, either in the way of food in your fridge / freezer, lost wages due to power out at your place of work, not being able to get gas?

We were without power from Friday to Tuesday....could not get gas, as our whole town was without power, and some rural areas near us are still without power.....we lost everything in our freezer and fridge....did not have a generator. and the temperatures passed the 100* mark....not a good week....

Hope all of you that did lose power during the recent storms have had your power restored by now.,

It's amazing how much you don't realize how dependent we are on things like electricity until you don't have it...

We didn't really have any damage but areas around us did. There were a lot of electric and telephone that got knocked down, some roofs ripped off and there was an accident that killed two people (they think the wind may have blown one of the cars into the other.) Our power was out for a few hours.

What damages did you suffer from the recent storms??  Thankfully none of the trees that were uprooted hurt the house we're living in. We were pretty worried, especially when we heard them start crashing. We were very lucky though that none fell into the house or our cars.

Were you without power?  If so, for how long?  Much shorter than most people, only 2 days.

Did you lose much as a result, either in the way of food in your fridge / freezer, lost wages due to power out at your place of work, not being able to get gas?

The morning after the storm, at first people were saying it was going to be two weeks until the power came back up. So we started cooking EVERYTHING in our freezer over the BBQ.

It really hurt though because we live in such a remote area, we only go grocery shopping once a month to save gas. We had just gone shopping two days before, so our freezers were full of a month's worth of meat. We got our coolers up from the basement, did a road trip to buy a lot of ice, and just started cooking and then storing the cooked meat in the coolers with ice. We did have to throw out some things that we didn't feel comfortable or safe with, but in the end we had a lot of pre-cooked meat that was OK to freeze once the power came back.

mom2taz I'm so sorry it took them until Tuesday to get the power back on for you, and I'm especially sad you lost your whole freezer. That really hurts. Are you in MD? I heard they really got hit hard there.

I live in Florida and we got hit by 2 tropical storms (felt like hurricanes). Flooded roads and trees down are about all the damages. Nothing too terribly bad. The roof did leak a little bit and our inground pool overflowed both times (even after draining about a foot., but that was a TON of rain.

The only thing that we had was a bunch of branches falling down.
