Meat prices are ridiculous but I do shop around for the best prices on it before I buy and If its on sale I will buy it in bulk and split it up and freeze in smaller packages. It is not only meat prices that are soaring everything else seems to be skyrocketing as well. Things don't look so good for our economy. You cant always believe everything you read because if we did we would be horrified at the things that we are actually eating in our food and to me that is more horrific than the cost.

The prices of food stuff are outrageously high because they are affected by the high price of transportation, also known as "fuel".

Hi "acraw558", I am from Sacramento. I heard yesterday that Sprouts and Sunflower are amalgamating....they now promise more stores, more variety and more jobs. I'm so glad that I "found" this store....bought meat and veggies for about 2 weeks for under $25! It made my day!!

I live alone and buy from a store called Grocery Outlet. It might be regional. They sell at cost plus 10% and you don't have to buy in bulk or bag the groceries yourself. The stock varies and I have found things there I'd never seen before. Great deals! Another thing I watch for is the buy one-get one free or clearance items at larger supermarkets. Winn-Dixie recently had much of their meat and poultry at buy one-get one free and I stocked up and started cooking again. I also buy a lot of things at the dollar store. Dollar General's bread is only $1.00.

Thanks for all the good information.  I live in Ohio so I don't have a Sunflower store near me.  I usually only buy meat if on sale and good price.  Don't have room to buy in bulk so very limited on what I can purchase.  Trying to save a little money and purchase a small chest type freezer.  If all else fails I quess I will be eating more vege's and fruits to avoid having to pay high prices for meat.

I always said I was getting stronger the older I get. I use to spend 50 dollars on groceries and have to use a cart to carry them now I can carry them in my arms.

I only buy meat that is a "managers special."  I cook it as soon as I get it home and then freeze some of it if there's enough.

Everything is getting more expensive. I don't see prices of anything ever really going back down.

Unfortunately, I think there is a good chance that a lot of groceries are going to be going up as the price of corn goes up.  It has been a rough season for a whole lot of farmers with the drought in the Midwest.

everything is expensive these days, mainly because of our weak dollar. I wouldn't be surprised if everything goes up again in a matter of months.

Indeed grocery prices are insane.  I find myself going to 3-4 different stores per week to stretch our dollars.  This last spring we began eating healthier and the old adage eating healthier costs more isn't so true.  I rely on Aldi to do probably 70% of my shopping.  Clip coupons and utilize sites like saving star.

Every time I go to the store for food the prices keep going up and up and I don't get any assistance at all.  So I am about to just start eating one meal a day because when I am busy doing something else my mind is not on food anyway.  The weather being as hot that it has been some things are going to keep going up and up.  How are we suppose to feed ourselves and our families.
