Movies About Presidents
« on: July 20, 2012, 07:49:29 pm »
I think we should always have short series about Presidents. Just finished The Reagan's and watched The Kennedy's awhile back - both on Netflix and I have to say they were both well done. I watched W from Redbox when it first came out and to me that one had it's funny moments just because George W was quite a character. If they made The Bush's in a series and spanned both, I'm sure I'd like it just as much as the Reagan and Kennedy series.

They did have the comedy show "That's My Bush" and the animated series "Lil' Bush" featuring the latter President Bush.  Both were spoofs of W.

I liked Oliver Stone's Nixon and JFK.  I also liked Truman, The Kennedy's, and W.  I have not watched Frost/Nixon yet, but I've heard good things about it.  Lincoln also looks like a good movie.  I'm a fan of several of the cast including Daniel Day Lewis, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Jackie Earle Haley, Tommy Lee Jones, and Lee Pace.

I did watch Lil' Bush and thought that was hilarious, hadn't thought of that show in a long time, might have to see if it's on Netflix.

JFK was great too, never watched Nixon or Truman though.

I thought Oliver Stone's W was an interesting look at GWB; it wasn't done as a strictly  linear look at GeeDub.  Say what you will, Stone does interesting things with presidents/politics.
