At the end of a Survey and getting YOU DO NOT QUALIFY
« on: July 22, 2012, 04:06:38 pm »
I have had my share of trying surveys and answering questions just to not qualify but I have never had this happen to me :BangHead:

I clicked on a FC survey and did the pre questions about age and income etc and starting answering questions about a new product. I read the product info answered questions gave my feedback and after about 15 minutes was getting to the end of the survey. When I went to the next page they told me I didn't qualify really :o I just answered all your questions and now I don't qualify.

It wouldn't be as bad and I would have really cared because it happens all the time but this time I did take the survey so how can I not qualify for a survey I just took.

Has this ever happen to anyone at the end of a survey???

More times than I can count. Surveys are a gamble, but when they do go as they should the payoff is worth it. Keep trying.

Sometimes, demographic quotas fill while one is taking a survey, (remember, you're not the only one taking a particular survey).
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Exactly.  Another possibility is that it calculated your speed as too slow or too fast, or it asked you the same question worded differently, but the answers you gave didn't "add up".  For example, you may be asked how many people live in your house including yourself; let's say you enter "1".  Then, later, they ask you, "does your husband live with you?" and you say "yes".  These two answers are mutually exclusive and once you've made an answer like this (even if it's the last question of the survey) they have to throw out all your answers because they can't trust that you really paid attention and answered accurately.

This is an exaggerated example but hopefully it conveys what's going on here.

Wow.  That hasn't happened to me, but I take surveys at a steady speed.  On another site, you can wait at least two hours if the survey gets stuck.

This has happened to me several times now, does anyone know if we still earn any money since we did indeed take the survey?

I am sure that most of us are so experienced at doing surveys that we don't give any mutually-exclusive answers. As I complete, on average, 10 surveys each and every day on FC and other sites, and have done so for about 18 months, I believe I have completed at least 4,000 (and probably closer to 5,000) so the chances of entering incorrect personal information is slight.

And I haven't qualified for an FC survey for quite a while so that seems a bit strange. However, I am happy to accept the 1c for trying  :)

Maybe the DQ-ing the xtian demographic rumor has a kernal of truth to it afterall however, I doubt it.

Being a "professional survey taker" is another thing that might DQ you from some surveys, believe it or not.

Being a professional? How utterly bizarre. If FC, or anyone else, sends them to me then surely it's because they want me to do them.
That makes absolutely no logical sense whatsoever - sending me loads of surveys and then penalising me for doing them.

The firms who actually run the surveys may maintain an internal list of frequent survey takers, probably identified by anonymized browser fingerprints.  If they had such a list, it would not be given out to anybody, so we have no way of screening you out before sending an invite.  Think about it: they would have to send a list of hundreds of thousands of email addresses to every partner that runs their surveys (and they'd pass it on to subcontractors, too)... privacy and data protection nightmare.  The market research firms are pretty cautious about protecting user data - it's their meal ticket.

As far as I know, it depends on the sensitivity of the survey and the end client as to whether a "pro" would be DQ'd or not.  While I have some ideas as to why they might DQ very frequent survey takers, they are really only speculation and thus I'll just have to leave you with a shrug for an explanation.  We can't control individual members' experience with surveys, because every individual's experience is different and determined by a huge number of factors, not the least of which is your personal survey history (whether through this site or another).  I can only suggest that if you are seeing a really low success rate (say, 15 DQs in a row) with surveys, you might want to take a break for a while.  FC members, overall, qualify for a pretty high percentage of the surveys that they click - higher than industry average.  I know with all the complaints it is hard to believe, but it's the truth.

I feel the same way you do. Finish the survey and not qualify. I guess its more like gambling away your time, take your chances wasting 20 or 30 minutes of it.
