Mount Rushmore

Has anyone ever been out that way? I am going there in two weeks. I am going to see the badlands, the black hill forest and the devil's tower also.

Yes we went through there on a trip home from Chicago one year. Another awesome site (in my opinion) is the Crazy Horse monument, but my absolute favorite stop was Wall Drugs. To see what one simple promotion gimmick could turn into was a lesson for me that I still use today. Don't try to sell people on your agenda, solve a problem for them and you can't chase them away.

What a great area to visit.  There is a great state park out there too (I think it is Custer State Park) that is beautiful to drive thru and we saw tons of animals.  I concur with Oldbuddy about Crazy Horse. I was there about 15 years ago and it was well worth the stop.  I have no idea how far along it is now.

Watch out when you drive through Custer's, because the wild burros will come right up to your window and beg for bread handouts. My wife about freaked out when one stuck it's head right into the truck looking for more.

I went to Mount Rushmore when I was 10. They had a pretty cool light show at night. It's definitely something to see.

We have been to Mount Rushmore many years ago.  We enjoyed watching the videos of how the sculptor, Gutzon Borglum, changed a mountain side into the huge monument!  I would like to return and see the progress over at the Crazy Horse monument.

We also visited several caves in the region and rode the 1880s train.

I would love to be able to go see mount Rushmore. I think that that would be amazing. I could only imagine what they would think seeing their faces memorialized forever.

I have been to Mount Rushmore and it is quite remarkable when you realize how big it is.  The badlands are very impressive.  I know you will have a great time.  I did!

That is one of my greatest wishes.  I have not seen nearly as much of this country as I would like.  I hope you have a wonderful trip.
