New TV Show - "Revolution"
« on: September 20, 2012, 12:38:36 pm »
Premiered on Sunday, September 16th (?).  Did anyone watch it?  What did you think about it?  Do you think it's relevant to the world today?  Do you think there's a possibility that something like they portray happening in the show could happen today?

I watched it and it was pretty good.
I can see the possibility of that type of sisaster, but I believe that the world population would react and get back to normal much quicker.
If nothing else, we would all take lessons from the Omish. They have got it down to a science.!

I haven't seen it.  Could you tell me what it's about?  Is it about revolution in the USA?  I can see how that could be a possibility with the way things have been going.

The premise is still being guessed-at by the audience however, if the blackout is based upon Tesla's concepts regarding the earth's rotating electromagnetic field, (and drawing power from it), that may account for it lasting for over 15 years.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

I actually saw the first episode online a few months ago. I got accepted into a screener survey at another site. I remember seeing the first 15 or 20 minutes of it, taking a survey, and then a few days later getting a follow up email to watch the whole thing for another study.

If you haven't seen it yet and want to catch up on it before the next episode airs Monday, you can see Episode 1 at the official site http://www.nbc.com/revolution/

You're right about the premise still being guessed-at.  I watched the map of the world presented when the lights went out.  What struck me was that the U.S. was the FIRST part of the map to go out, then the rest of the world followed behind.  Made me wonder if it wasn't an EMP deployed by another country that MEANT to take out the U.S., but screwed everyone else in the process.

It would seem viewers are meant to guess, (keeps the suspense/mystery alive), about the cause.  An EMP, (electromagnetic pulse), would initially knock out unshielded electronics however, the effects wouldn't last for 15 years after the EMP.  I did notice the map of how the effect spread, which made it appear as if it originated someone along the eastern U.S. and that at leat some people knew it was coming.

Well, it started out with the entire world losing it's electricity and picks up 15 YEARS later and how people are getting along.  Small groups of people live in places like Villages.  Major cities and attractions are now overgrown with plant life.  People use carts and horses to get around.  There is a group called THE MILITIA, who are now like the Police.  Each member of the Militia are branded with an "M" inside a circle on their wrist.  The Militia are the only ones allowed to carry or have guns.  Normal citizens are not allowed to have guns and, so far, it appears no one trusts The Militia.

That's just a small part of the first episode.  If you get a chance, watch it.  To me, it promises to be a really interesting series.
