So i met this girl online and we live in the same city, how long should you message back and forth before you go and meet her.  I havent had much luck online dating, find a lot of crazy ones.

I would suggest talking on the phone a few times before agreeing to meet. You can generally get a better feel for a person actually hearing their voice where they don't have the time to really think about each response beforehand.

All i can say is b careful!! I met this guy online after talking for 2-3 monthes, 12 years later 3 kids he abused my kids took awhile for his true colors to come out so i guess ya never know!!

I would say depending on how comfortable you feel. I met a girl online and we hung out after talking for a week. She is pretty cool, we still hang out when I am not at work.

I would say at least a month so that you can get to know her a little more and see what she is all about. You want to take your time and maybe this time you will have some luck.

Some other options to consider...if you want to talk with her on the phone, but don't want to give out your home number just yet, maybe try a Skype voice call (if you have video, maybe do a video call).  Maybe try a Google+ hangout session.  Or, if you don't have one, sign up for a Google Voice account and set it up to ring through to your home phone, then give her the Google number.

I really don't date at the moment - too busy with other things, but in the past I had a couple online dates where they took to calling me until my non-responsiveness finally got them to give up.

I've been "meeting" people online for over 10 years. The first time I waited probably a month before suggesting we meet. As a result of the domino effect, the original person and I didn't keep in touch, but I ended up marrying his roommates brother... lol

I've met people after communicating for just about a week online or a little less. If I think the person is interesting I don't mind meeting, but of course I choose a public place. I've not had much issue other than not finding the right person.

I am amazed at the good fortune that my friends have had at the on line dating thing!  They typically exchange two to three e-mails and than agree on a place to meet...like a bar or coffee shop. When I was in the dating game you would go to a bar, get hammered, and eventually ask someone out who was nearly (if not more) drunk than you. That or you would end up dating someon from work which was always disastrous.  Referrals from friends were always the worst source.  Count your blessings that you have the internet to work with.
