Share your thoughts about how many children you think that a person or couple should have with the economy the way that it is.

At the moment, given the overpopulation of the world and the problems it's leading to, none to one.

I agree that it is irresponsible to have a large number of children. I know people who have five and plan on having more, and that is just ridiculous, adding to the world's problems. I would hate to suggest that the United States implement a child cap, but I would hope that couples would not add to the problem by having more than two children.

I think that you can have what ever number of kids you have in your household now.But however to already have 3 kids and decide while the economy is bad to have another baby.In some places we as the tax payers haveto pay for these kids though they are not ours. Not right.Children should be planned and I understand we've had our oops but seriously please think before bringing these babies into this messed up economy to only struggle because we don't know what's ahead of us.And it's not fair to taxpayers and those babies. Our land is already overpopulated and causing us to have to build up because we are seriously running out of land and seriously overpopulated.

I think I want 3 - 4 but I grew up in a big family.

It depends on your financial standing, mostly.  Don't have 10 kids if you're planning to not work and live off the government.

:o Wow im sorry to have to disagree but how wrong for people to say don't have anymore then two kids cause of over population... I have 2 and another on the way and still want more... But it is not like im living off the system... Yes times are tough and it sucks but we are managing and if you have more then two or want more then two you shouldn't be considered selfish. you should embrace your loved ones. If people waited for ideal times the human population would have already have died off. WW1 WW2 the great depression and many more things that would have stood in peoples way.

Okay I do agree. It should be based on your financial situation. And for those of you who are handling your own then this does not apply.I would go into depth about but don't want to offend anybody.Besides not on here trying to offend anyone just trying to find topics that sparks up conversation. But if you were offended then I apologize.Everythings all good.

I believe that about 2-3 is a good number, but if you can afford to take care of them you can have as many as you want. A good example of that is the octo-mom, she has 14 but obviously cannot afford to take care of those children. Unlike that family that have 18, as they're not in the news constantly, or putting up websites to collect donations from others. And even before havong your own kids, I think people should try to solve the problem of all of those poor children without homes and families.

I think that a healthy household is at least 3 children.  People can have as many as they want.  A family can make it financially if they are smart about it, large or small.  It is all how you spend and save.

Even if you do know how to spend or save, it's not right to not be able to give your children what they want, and allow them to live comfortably just because you want a large number of children.

Well I guess you have a problem with how I was raised.  Not having everything that I wanted made me a better person and allowed me the knowhow now to know what I have to do to get what I want.

Except it's not just you and your kids you're effecting by having many kids.  It's the world as a whole.

This really shouldn't even be about how much junk you can or can't buy for your kids.  This is entirely a global problem on a scale that is almost unimaginable.

It's simply not that black and white of an issue.
