Except it's not just you and your kids you're effecting by having many kids.  It's the world as a whole.
Well the world as a whole is affected in a lot of ways having kids isn't going to affect it anymore... There isn't less oxygen or space just cause people have more then 2-3 kids... as for a global thing If you teach your kids the right way to take care of the world then adding more also isn't a harmful thing... and how do you figure it isn't such a black and white issue?

Because I don't think the majority of people really know, or care, what goes on outside of their city and how big of a factor overpopulation currently is on a global level.  And yes, every person who is currently having kids having 2-3 more would have a HUGE impact.  If we assume a quarter of the population of the US alone is attempting to have kids, and they each decide to have 2-3, that's 150 million to 225 million more people...at only a quarter of the US population (which is only 75 million...consider 6 billion+ in the world).  Not to mention less and less people per capita are dying per year due to technological and medical advances.

It isn't just about how well you can afford them or about teaching them "to take care of the world," whatever that means.
Ever heard of the butterfly effect or Chaos Theory?

Yes.

It should be up to the parents to decide if they can take care of whatever number of children they want. If they can't they honestly shouldn't but hey this isn't China, its America so if you want 6 kids, but feel you might not be able to support them, I guess go for it as there are people out there who will help.

This is a terrible mentality.  The people who will help will mostly be helping because they have no choice and you were irresponsible and selfish.

Such as life... I personally don't want to pay taxes but have to... I didn't want to deal with president bush's ignorance again not I choice I had... A majority of people who are having more then 2 kids who are not selfish can usually take care of there kids... Sometimes people do need help and have to go that extra mile to get it... Do I think a woman who has 4 kids doesn't work and has never worked who is 100% living off the government should have more kids... NO  i don't... That is still there decision to hopefully make the right one though... But I admire the people who DECIDE to have more kids and disregard the criticism and take care of there responsibility

Any amount over 3 children is too many.  Children are expensive to raise, feed and clothe.  I have 3 kids and sometimes they seem like 10!

i think u should have as many kids as u want.  how can u put a price on a child?  children need love and necessities so if u have 4 or more they might not get everything they want but if u have your mind set u can take care of them and give them everything they need.  its not that hard people.  where there is a will there is a way.  i have raised 3 children on less than  10000.00 a year.  no i dont have house payments or a new car, but they got everythnig they need and they all wear nice clothes and name brand shoes.

I think four kids is good so you can have two boys and two girls so they would never be lonely.  But unfortunately we cannot control the gender of our children.

I grew up in a family with 4 kids. we were broke all the time but we got by.  I know my siblings pretty well but the youngest of us feels almost like a stranger who grew up in the same house. It is a strange relationship. I being the oldest have the largest age gap so that my be a factor, but my other siblings seem to have distanced themselves from her as well. I suppose it has something to do with her being the baby of the family and maybe that created some hostility.

Personally, I have three children and that is more than enough for us.  We're happy with the way things are.

I don't think it's right for anyone to tell anyone else how many children they're allowed to have.  It's just another type of discrimination to place upon others.  I don't agree with the people who raise their children with my tax money simply because they refuse to work but if you're financially, emotionally, and mentally able; have as many children as you like.

And how exactly do those who are in agreement with a child cap law propose the government enforce it?  Sterlization?  Abortion?  Fines?  That wouldn't fix the overpopulation and would eventually cause more problems.  There are more important things going on right now and really, how much power do you want to give your government...
