family reunions
« on: October 19, 2012, 01:39:37 pm »
I am hosting a family reunion this year where I'll have both my grandma's attending....one is 101, the other is 99! They both still get around good and although the short term memory is slipping, they really have super minds as well!  I'm looking forward to it! How old are your grandparents?

You are extremely luck to have two grandparents living that long! I did not know either of my grandmothers or grandfathers, they both passed away before I was born. I do like family reunions though! Had one with quite a few of my cousins in Nantucket back in 2002, we had a great time.

I have both grandparents on my dad's side but I have to make an appointment to see them.  And my grandparents on my mother's side are both gone   :(   I miss them both very much.  My grandmother did get to see me get married and have a child before she pasted.

Well, all my grandparents are passed on. So, no family reunion with grandparents for me.

Make sure you have a recorder there, at family reunions so many people tell stories that at no other time will you hear.  You need to keep track of as much of that as possible.  If you don't those stores and memories go with them, family histories are really wonderful to have.

Our family ladies  have all joined the DAR, what a shock when we found out at the last family reunion:  The person who was in the Revolutionary War, that we all trace our roots back to, who because he fought in the war made us eligible for the DAR was on the British side!  He just decided to stay here after the war.   The other side of the family is American Indian.....too funny!

My Grandparents have passed away and i miss my grandpa and grandma a lot, When we had our last reunion with them alive it was huge. Grandma had 10 kids and they were all there along with their kids and grandkids. My kids were lucky to get to know them on my mothers side. There was over 150 familymembers at the reunion and on the las day the whold county was invited and then there was almost 800 people there. Thank heavens my aunt and uncle had it on the ranch. My mothers parents had lived in that community for almost 80 years. Boy was it fun.

Fantastic to you - I have no surviving grandparents. I have awesome memories of them but am not fortunate enough to have them here anymore.

Haven't had a family reunion since 82.  All grandparents have all passed on.

Would be fun to see everyone again, although I'm not really close to anyone in my family.

I love our family reunions.  Only my paternal Grandma is still living.  She just turned 91 years old last month.  How blessed you are to have both of your grandmothers.

You are so BLESSED to have both your grandmothers with you.  Mine passed away years ago and they were getting close to 90 years old.  They has a long happy life and I was grateful to have them at that late age.  I always like it when we family reunions but all the old people in the family that got it together has passed away and us younger ones can never get together at the same time. Hope you have a wonderful weekend and may God bless each of you and keep you safe.
