Sobriety is scriptural  :wave:

Actually, according to that same 'scripture', it's not, (c.f., 'wine' usage, both secularly and ritually).
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

   :angel12:I Woke up this morning, And felt a new breath of life in me! A new chapter of fear but a good fear and with this fear is sobriety, I am Far away from my home in the city's and in a loving treatment facility that's faith based and way out in the middle of no where lol.... I chose to start a topic this morning, Because i'm scared!! i'm asking for positive feedback from all you wonderful FusionCash Member's Who have Gone done the rode of sobriety.. I need support and a little push of advice to keep my head up Thank You all..  :angel12:

I wish you the absolute best and congratulate you on taking control of your life.  Some important people in my life that I admire I was surprised to find had dealt with very serious things from sobriety to drug addiction.  I admire them even more now and believe they are stronger people for having gone through that experience and to better their life - stronger than I think I could ever be.  Heck I have a hard time with sugar in products and cravings.   It is easy for people to judge that have never had to deal with something so hard and many of them would not have the strength if they ever had the misfortune to be addicted.  So hold your head up proud because you are finding the strength to take control of your life.  Life is a learning and growing experience.  You are growing and learning and that is always the right direction.  How did our elders get so smart in their old age  . . . personal experiences  - good and bad.  The only time we fail is if we do not learn from our experiences.  Tough situations may have driven you to alcoholism but taking control and responsibility for your future is how you win!  Don't let the past or negatives in your life beat you.  Everyday is the first day of the rest of your life and every moment is the next moment if you need the baby steps!  You are a bigger better person to overcome something like this than someone that never had a trial or tribulation.  It takes more to walk in your footsteps. so know you are walking a path of greatness.  Play the old rocky music theme in your head - face the fear head on.  What we fear is usually just in our minds what we create. Mostly we fear what we don't know or understand.  Knowledge is power.  They say as humans we tend to avoid and not change habits till it becomes more uncomfortable not too.  So change is here for you and you have help.  Congratulations!  I am so proud of you!  Block out the negative noise, because it is just that "noise", then you can hear what matters!  YOU MATTER - YOU ARE SO IMPORTANT - YOU MAY NEVER KNOW THE PEOPLE THAT YOU TOUCH BUT IT MATTERS!  YOU GO GIRL!!

falcon9,

1 Peter 1:13

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

falcon9 you're rather delinquent in your scriptures studies. Fret not. The Lord is pleased  ;D

Sobriety is a much better world to live in...a clear mind and a clear conscience...and if you find faith in God and act in faith...your world will change for the better and you will recognize your blessings.  Life is challenging but it is much better facing those challenges with sobriety.  Hang in there you can do it... :thumbsup:

I concur.

...and if you find faith in God and act in faith...your world will change for the better and you will recognize your blessings.

That part is vehemently disagreed with; one cannot have a "clear mind" if it is clouded by blind faith and fogged with religious self-delusions.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

We all have vices whether we want to admit our weakness or not.  My father went from smoking to drinking to gambling to working to eating and now he is over dieting so that he can overcome all of his past vices.  Some people are addicted to worrking out...others can be addicted to bad relationships.  Whatever the habit, if it is controlling your life, you probably need to break free.  Even Hemingway said that hee would have one drink a day so that he could show that alcoholism hadn't won. But he was adjusting his lifestyle around that one drink.  I wish you the best in conquering yours vices.

There are somethings that are just not good for you and then there is moderation for the things we can enjoy.
