hurricane sandy
« on: October 29, 2012, 03:59:57 pm »
When I woke up this morning, it was almost dark outside. The streets were almost empty. However, when I got to the supermarket, it was packed with shoppers. The parking lot was packed with cars. People were coming in and out of the supermarket. I didn't stay. I left the place hoping I would find a less crowded place which I did. I was fortunate. I did my food shopping and got back home.

This is a very bad storm. Infact I expect to loose power shortly. I am in the south coast of Mass.
wind gust btwn 60-70 now the rain has arrived. lots of flooding and Beach erosion High tide is at midnight at low tide it was already flooding and it has not gone down
This storm is going to stick around for awhile. Should an interesting few days. I hope at least that the winds calm down
Hope everyone it her path stays safe and dry.
Not sure when I will be back Have a great night. :peace:

Everyone stay safe as best as possible. Just stay prepared for the worse. Prayers go all to everyone out there having to deal with such conditions. And please take all evacuation messages very seriously.

I pray for the people in the path of this dangerous storm.

Such 'magical intercessory rituals' have no evidence whatsoever of having any effect whatsoever on storms, so basically they offer nothing of substance.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

This is Katie O'Mara.
The Huron County Sheriff telling us tonight 15 foot waves are crashing into the shoreline. Already, seven schools closed. And, many of your friends and neighbors sharing their storm snapshots. Stay tuned much more to come at 11!

we are in WV, and not getting hit hard....at least not yet anyway....but some towns very near us are already having power outtages....so, I am not taking any chances of being without power and not get to cash out day after tomorrow....especially after being without electric for a week last July....and we live in an area that hasn't lost power for more than an hour or two in years and years...then it was just for a day or so.  SO, I am not risking it...I am cashing out now.
Stay safe everyone.

I've seen the news and images about the devastation and loss hurricanes can cause, but I've never experienced it first hand. I feel somewhat fortunate to live on the west coast, because we rarely (more like never) experience hurricanes. I was reading that we in the west coast will more than likely never be visited by a weather event like this in our lifetimes, due to water temperatures, but that doesn't mean we can't be concerned about friends, family and fellow human beings. To all of those who live and are affected by Sandy, be safe and try to stay out of harms way.
