I absolutely LOVE scary movies. Consequently, I cannot sleep because of the nightmares generated from these movies, LOL. I was really hoping to see the movie Annabelle; the trailer was very appealing. I just haven't had the chance to sit down and watch it yet, grr.

I just saw The Imitation Game about the logician Alan Turing who built a machine to crack the *bleep*'s secret code used for transmitting messages. This machine was a precursor to modern computes. The movie was a tear jerker at the end, but a good and kept my attention the whole time.

Robert is doing well in the movie industry. I like those Sherlock Holmes movies too!

I just watched Flight of the Dragons for the first time in years.  It’s an old Rankin Bass cartoon like the Hobbit.  It’s actually a cute way to explain why there is no truye magic left in the world since it was replaced by Science and logic.  It really brought back some great memories and also made me miss back when people actually knew how to write a story.  Now a days most of hollywood stories are either remakes or rip-offs (the correct term for their ‘retelling’ a story).

I watched The Boxtolls.  While it doesn’t convey the same feel good emotion as a Disney movie, it definitely is worth watching.  It’s definitely worth having in your collection if you collect all the stop motion action cartoons.

I think boxtrolls is as good as ParaNorman though I would not say as great as The Nightmare Before Christmas or Coraline.  I think FrankenWeenie is better too.  But that being said, it is well done.  The storyline, of course is familiar if not too over done, evil monsters aren’t really evil because the ones that labeled them evil are in fact the evil ones.  We’ve seen this in cartoons from Shreik to Monsters Inc.  However, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth watching.  There’s definitely enough action to keep one entertained and the true heart of the story, never being afraid to change, is certainly a moral lesson anyone at any age can appreciate.

I recently purchased John Wick with Keanu Reeves.  If you never saw it…IT’S AWESOME!  No I am not saying this because I’m a Keanu Reeves fan (which is true).  No I am not saying this because I have just about every single movie he has done (which is also true).  I am saying this because it is the second best movie he has ever done behind The Matrix.  It is full of action and never slows down.  He trained for months to get ready and does all the stunts himself.  That includes doing car spins, shooting and a shoot/jiu-jitsu type of action (those sequences he’ll start off shooting, do martial arts in the middle and go right back to shooting all in one action fight).  I have to say I went in a little leery because the plot left a lot to be desired: a retired hit man who after his wife’s death receives a final gift from her, a dog.  That dog ends up dying in a house break in/car robbery.  He then goes on a hunt to kill to avenge his dead dog.  Yeah, that does sound cheesy.  But seeing is believing.  As I said, once it gets going it does not slow down.  It is action backed right from the get go.  And Keanu is flawless in the action.  Definitely his best work since the Matrix.

I have to say the new Dreamworks Animated Penguin Movie is Awesome!  Especially if you’re like me and watched the Madagascar Trilogy just for them.  I also have the entire TV show collection from Itunes.  So a huge fan.  Anyway, it connected perfectly with the third Madagascar.  SPOILER ALERT!  It starts in circus (which for those who don’t remember they just bought at the end of the third movie) and it ends with them right back in the circus.

Speaking of the Penguins new Animated movie, I loved the segment where the guys were babies and Private hatches.  The only thing is I know it fits within the movie but I don’t think they would have been their commando selves at that age.  They would have had to be influenced by someone and gotten together though certain circumstances like with Happy Feet they were in a class together.  Note to Dreamworks: If you are reading this make another penguins movie this time how the guys actually got together!

Anybody else watch Equalizer, the new Denzel Washington movie?  I thought it was a perfect blend of action and drama.  —That’s why it was the perfect movie for Denzel since he has done both.  I especially love the character itself.  Spoiler Alert!  He is ‘retired’ CIA though with his moves in the movie he had to be in something else first like Special Forces.  But it is not exactly his ‘kill/beat up all the bad guys in the blink of an eye’ type of thing I like so much.  I like the fact that he will walk into a room, look around, see what he can use as a weapon, and then gives the main guy a choice to choose the non-violent way out first.  It’s one of those diplomacy first type of characters which is a nice touch and you do not see that much in an action movie.  I wouldn’t say it’s his best movie (or one of the best) but if you are a Denzel Washington fan, and I know I am, it is definitely worth checking out.
