Tasks for Cash
« on: November 04, 2012, 10:55:55 pm »
When we complete a "human intelligence task," why aren't the ones we complete somehow marked as done? For example, there are a ton of penny tasks for giving a quick rating on a web search, but once you've done it once, you can't do it again because, obviously, they don't need a multitude of the same opinion for the same person. The problem is, if I don't keep track of where the tasks I've done are on the list, or if more are added and their location moves, I keep opening the same tasks over and over, only to be told I've already done everything I can for this task. I'm losing precious pennies!

Someone DID turn in a question/request on this on the Crowdflower support site, and they said they were going to have their engineers look into a way of doing something with this.
But they have so many problems with task errors, non-payment on tasks, and complaints about both of those and more, I don't imagine it's going to be their top priority.

I hadn't realized it was quite that glitchy, especially seeing the leaderboard earnings for those tasks.  Thanks, d.

Mostly the only way I know I've done one before is if the link is a different color, otherwise I might be going into the same ones constantly.  I don't have a real problem with it because there are only certain ones I do, but for those who do more it could really be helpful.

I know.  It is hard to get into Crowdflower sometimes when there are a lot offered and keep track, expecially when accuracy is going good and one single offer gives ya page after page (Yay) and by the time ya get back to the main page, new ones have been added.  I, also, have lost track of where I was on the page.  But, hey, anything that clicks more pennies into my back is a good thing.  It is just my personal opinion, but it took me a while to get the hang of the tasks (learned that it all became easier just by entering through Chrome), but now I believe I really like it all except the adult concept related ones.  However, I do see in the thread where we post our daily achievements that a lot of people are making a lot off of that crediting repeatedly.

Stick with it and good luck.

Just to check before I made this comment, since my eyes are not as good as the used to be. I noticed that the ones I complete turn to a lighter shade or different shade of blue. Has anyone else noticed that? No matter I only do the really easy one for now, so I have problem keeping up with ones I have done.

Yes they do, but if you do any of them that require you to clear your browser (or do other offers where you have cleared your browser, & then come back to do tasks) the links to the tasks are all back to the same color again.

I never even realized that they turned a different shade of blue....I'll have to check that out. Although, like you said, if you do ones that you have to clear your browser then it does no good. I try just to write down where I left off because I think for the most part, when the new ones are added they end up on the first page towards the top, and the older ones get pushed down. Their order doesn't seem to change (referring specifically to the penny & half penny ones).

I have noticed that sometimes the links turn a lighter blue, but usually it's such a slight change I can't tell the difference. Could be b/c I'm usually tired. Or could be my monitor. Or it could be the shaded background for some of the links that causes a context effect (my intro psych teacher would be so proud of me if he could see me referencing that right now . . . .). Thanks for the insight, though, into some of the issues they have that might be higher priority. Guess I'll just have to deal w/ occasionally being annoyed while I pinch my pennies.  ;)
