You are so young to feel that way!  I am 75 and just thankful to be alive and able to still enjoy playing piano, volunteering, singing in women's choir, visiting with my family and whatever I feel like doing. Get involved in something to feel more alive!

stop focusing on your age and just do what you feel like during, if you don't in ten/twenty years you'll be sitting around even more depressed that you didn't enjoy yourself in your 50's

I am just greatfull that I wake up on the green side of the grass. Aging is not fun, getting more aches and pains, but hey, can't stop that, just try to enjoy each and every day, and family and friends

I think that age is just a number!  I truly believe the statement in that you are as old as you feel!  I try my best to live life to the fullest and enjoy every single day!!!  You are not promised tomorrow!

I'm 57 and not depressed over getting older.  It is just a fact of life that everyone will get older.  You just have to make your own fun and pray that you don't have health problems that keep you from doing the things you want to do.

I am sorry to hear that.  You are in charge of your own happiness.  There are so many blessings in each day.  Wonderful joys are found in the most unexpected places.
I like what you said here!  Thanks for the wonderful encouraging words!  :)

Well I am 65, and I have learned how not feel old. I eat a healthy low fat diet, and I do some sort of excercise every day. Not strenuous, even a walk around the nieghborhood can be mood lifting on a beautiful day. One thing I also do is constantly set goalsand work towards them. Even if it is only saving up $25 to go to the local beauty college to get a massage. You mention taking care of others..what about you? If the people you take care of could do for themselves, they must! You tell them you need help with things and that each have to pull their own weight. You need some relief! God bless you and go for it!

You are still very important and beautiful in my opinion. I am 25 and have already started to feel older. I recall living with my parents and now I am a parent. You can get through this. I will be praying for you.
Lord Jesus Christ is the only way for eternal salvation from sins. Jesus loves you.

I will be 70 ina few months and once in a while the aches and pains catch up with me. But i just go on and ignore it and the next thing i know am doing ok. I am at the age that i don't care what people think about me and  I will dress the way i want and do what i want. If i don't want to wear makeup i don't, who cares. I don't.

I just had a birthday and I still feel great.  Although when I say the number it doesn't seem possible that I have reached that.  I remember when my parents were this age.   :-

I just wondered if everyone when they get my age feel depressed over being old.  I am 50 and lately I find myself feeling like fun is only for young people.  It seems like all I do is go through the motions of life to try to take care of others in my family.  I have been thinking about when I was younger and wishing I was young again.  I feel like after you get older all there is is work and worry and that unless you are young and attractive you just blend into the woodwork and don't really matter anymore.

I completely disagree!!!!!   You are as young as you feel!!!!  I'm gonna be 66 and I feel like 50!! Why, you ask = simple I concentrate on the positive not the negative - sure I have my share of aches and pains but when I don't CONCENTRATE on those things I feel a whole lot better.  You know, it's easy to fall into the "poor me" trap.  My answer, don't do it - THINK POSITIVE EACH AND EVERY DAY!!!!!  Worrying will not fix anything; taking care of your family is a blessing and as for the "younger" set - well, let's just say - THEY TOO WILL GET OLDER - so think young and stay young!!!!!!

??? Try being 59 - you look very young in your picture and I'd trade 50 for 59 lol. I just saw a young man in the grocery store that I slightly know, he talks to me like we are the same age and we aren't even close.  and I thought man if I were 25 years younger ............ but I'd have to know what I know now because if I weren't any wiser than I was first time around, it wouldn't do me any good.

Thanks to everyone for your positive responses.  Went to the doctor this week and he put me on thyroid medicine, so that could be one reason I was feeling so old.  Also, I am weary from caring for my invalid mother for over five years.  Unless you have done that type of care, I don't think you can fully appreciate what my day consists of and if you don't have a strong stomach I would not even attempt to explain it.

It is true, I can make my own choices.  I could tell my 80 year old dad, "sorry, dad, you are on your own.  Take care of mom 24/7, cause it is burning me out too bad."  I could do that but I won't.  I will always put my dad ahead of myself no matter what it does to me.  He did it for me for many years.  I do it for him, not her.

I guess because I have been her doormat all my life, I feel that I am just a doormat to everyone else.  Now, to change my thinking is the hard part.  Thanks to everyone who responded.  It sure is cheaper than therapy.

It is all a state of mind. Some people at 50 feel is the end of the world while for others, it is the beginning of a new era. Now that they have matured are happy, much...much happier! They will not make the same mistakes they made when they were young and did not know any better. The main point is to take good care of yourself before and after 50.

I thought I was the only one!  I turn fifty in April and it seems like any death of someone that occurs before they are age sixty five affects me directly.. It is like I only have fifteen years left to live!  just about every one in my family has lived past age seventy...even the ones that abused their bodies with cigarettes, drugs and alcohol.  Twenty years isn't much of a reprieve...I am over half way done with my life!  Things have started to break down at this age...seems like I am sick every other two weeks!  I just want to be with my children through their college needs!  I relish every second with them and excercise just so that I can last a little longer... have more energy for activities with them!
