Virus reporting
« on: December 05, 2012, 07:22:14 am »
How does FC want it's members to report viruses? What does FC need to know to prevent viruses. A form or link for virus attack reporting would be nice.

Oh, that is so scary.  I love this site and spend a lot of time here, but this is not my only paid site as I have to do something out of my home for money.  If that happened it would be a true nightmare.

When I had my own computer sometimes while on fusion it would humm and get hot. I think it is the advertising linkiing to you computer and not a virus but a spy. You can delete spies.

Was on account page, clicked to go to forum page. No forum page appeared but an unmentionable page did. It was not a FC page at all and it seems I was logged out of FC. All this not my choosing. This is twice this has happened. Any explanations?

I have had the same thing happen with clicking on the weather on the paid to click and gotten a very un welcome pop up of the adult nature how that happened I have no clue.  This has done it several times..  Thankfully my virus protection stopped a trojin horse from happening and no virus got into my computer.  Would be nice to fix this or see why its happening.  Maybe someone has tagged a cookie or something into the link.  I don't know.   :dontknow:

This happens because of ad code (from adhitz.com) on the forum pages and on some PTC pages.  We are not placing harmful links or redirects, and neither is adhitz.  What's happening is that there's a virus or malware on your computer which is clever enough to intercept and re-write the adhitz ad code while it's being downloaded.  Then, the ad code triggers a redirect and your first thought (naturally enough) is to blame the site you were on when it appeared.

We have not been able to reproduce this on our end, tested extensively.

You can go to another site which has adhitz ads (e.g. clixsense.com) and see if you are hijacked/redirected.  If you are, it's a good idea to run a scan for malware and adware.  Keep in mind that not all anti-virus and anti-malware software are create equal, and sometimes you need specialized tools (e.g. if you have a rootkit).

Thank you for the explanation Administrator. This sheds some light on the problem. All of my scans on my computer have come up negative. If there is any further info on your part please let us know. Way to go FC as always

Thanks for the information. I had seen something related earlier in the week on a different thread. I as well have had this happen but I thought it must have been me not paying attention and figured I had clicked on something for hair loss or *bleep* that lead to the more adult content. I have not run my antivirus for updates as it is supposed to be working all the time, but now that I know this I will to be on the safe side. As always the information, updates and assurances are most appreciated.
