Hiding money from spouse

Am I wrong for not telling my wife how much money I actually have in my account?

Well without really knowing details it is hard to say, but I would generally say yes. If you are "hiding" money or information it is sort of like lying. My dad always hid money, didn't tell mom the complete the truth about money. I think if it your gut tells you it feels wrong then it probably is.

I guess my question would be; Why do you feel the need to do that? Has something prompted you to do this and if so maybe you should address that situation.

I don't believe in hiding money from other people. We share all the accounts. I try to keep him up to date on the budget and the balance. He's not really interested in knowing, however.

You can find me on Youtube!

I think it depends. Are you doing it to be selfish, to perhaps try and do something with the money behind her back? If so then yes it's wrong. If it's due to her perhaps not being able to properly handle money and that if she knew you had it she would get the money and blow it on something perhaps, leaving you unable to pay bills then I'd say no you're not wrong.

I would never hide money from my wife! Unless I was putting it away for a surprise vacation or trip!

Not at all. That was my big mistake. I should have hidden money from her. She wound up taking everything from me. So hide away dude.

I don't think it's wrong.  Everyone needs their own money and a little stash especially if one spouse likes to spend and the other is a saver.  Everyone has to have their privacy and little secrets.

In my humble opinion, if you are asking that question, you already feel its wrong.

Yes, you are asking for trouble.  Not telling something is just like lying and well lets face it you will probably end up in the dog house.

THERE IS NO GOOD REASON TO BE HIDING ANYTHING FROM THE PERSON YOU LOVE. THE ONLY TIME I EVER HIDE MONEY IS TO SAVE IT FOR A GIFT LIKE WHEN I PLANNED A TRIP FOR US. IF YOU ARE HIDING IT FOR OTHER REASONS I THINK YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO YOUR RELATIONSHIP, THERE MUST BE SOMETHING THAT JUST DOESN'T WORK. YOU SHOULD BE OPEN AND HONEST ABOUT EVERYTHING. IF YOU CAN'T BE, WHAT'S THE POINT. BUT THAT IS JUST MY OPINION.

Hiding things, lying about things - sounds like a "trust" issue.  If you can't trust the one you supposedly love, then maybe you shouldn't have married her.  I don't know what kind of woman you're married to.  I do know who I am and I have a BIG problem with people who hide things or lie to me, especially if they expect ME to be open and honest all the time.  Burn me once - that's ALL it takes for me.  I have no patience for it.
