Milk prices are kept up by the government as are sugar prices and some other things.  They are subsidized by the government (meaning the taxpayers) and the government doesn't allow the prices to go below a certain level.

I didn't hear about congress passing anything on this, but I'm sure they did - milk is still $3.50 or so here.

I don't buy milk, but I cannot imagine spending $7 on one gallon. Even when I did buy it, we bought a half gallon at a time because it always seemed like we were throwing some out because it didn't all get drank before it started turning.

I'm not all for it, but it's kinda amazing how milk hasn't really risen in a while.  I just hope it doesn't jump that drastically.  We buy a few gallons a week so that high a price hike will really start cutting into our budget.

a gallon well it's suppose to happen because of the farmers and the fiscal cliff thing.the story is on cnn or msn one of those.better not i'm a real milk fan that would be twice as expensive now it's about 3.50 a gallon.
Yes that is true  :-[ The farmers will not receive  the subsidiaries lost by going over the fiscal cliff  :bs:

We do not buy but about a gallon a week and right now it is around $4.00.  If it goes to $7.00 then we will either stop drinking it or maybe try powdered milk....I have heard that it is not that bad.  Does anyone use it or have you tried it?

I guess, its a good thing that I'm willing to give up my milk and start juicing instead :)
