To respond to the original post, I believe that wearing white - or any other color - on a wedding day should be the Brides decision and not something tainted by 'tradition' or 'old views' or just plain old 'stubbornness' on the part of anyone else involved.

I always thought that ANY color was fine for a wedding dress. It's the ceremony and the meaning that matters, not the color of a piece of clothing.  ;)

Great question though. You gave me some serious food for thought. Good thread!

I think the only color that you should wear is white or off white, no matter how many times you get married! Congrats!

If you want to wear white go for it. Every marriage is innocent and precious and new when it first starts off. Worrying about the past helps noone, so just wear what makes you, and your special day a happy one.

My opinion is that the bride should be able to wear any color she wants to wear regardless of whether she was married in the past!
I am wondering if you should wear a white gown on your second marriage or an off color? So many people seem to criticizes brides when they wear all white and have been married once before. Heck, I thought that wearing white meant you wear a virgin.  :dontknow:

I think it depends on the person on what they decide to wear. I was always told that if you get remarried off white should be worn. But if I was to get remarried I would probably wear what I liked.

i think it's up to the bride lol...sure, it's not the "traditional" thing to do, but who really cares? the whole white wedding gown thing is "supposed" to be a sign of purity and being a virgin...do you know how many people get married that aren't virgins, and still wear a white gown? lol. it's your big day. do what you want!

History behind the white dress:  If you wore one it meant you had money because it cost a lot to get it white. The church is the one who made it symbolize virginity. So go ahead and wear white if you feel like it.

I say you should wear what you want! I am getting married in july and it is my second marriage...guess what color dress I bought? WHITE!! I think you should wear whatever your heart desires...go crazy..it is your day to feel and look beautiful..and dont even worry about haters! I would hope the people that attend your wedding would support you in any decision you make and if they cant, they should just stay home! Congrats..I hope your wedding is everything you want it to be and more.
