It really depends on what it is. I had painters in last august to do my second floor, they did an excellent job. I did the basement with my wife though! I have higher ceilings on the second floor so I did not want to mess with it. I will probably be calling out someone this year to do my gutters and pressure wash the siding because that tend to be tedius.

I try to do everything I can for myself because I'm very independent.  Sometimes I'll hire someone for certain projects if I have no clue how to accomplish what I need done.

Have a great day!

My husband is a jack of all trades so we do it all ourselves!

I generally make the attempt to do repairs myself. seventy five percent of the time I am successful and derive great satisfaction froom having completed a task by myseld...it even gives me bragging rights.  For instance I just replaced a garbage disposal in the kitchen sink.  I am a desk jockey for over seventy hours each week and I managed to get the job done!  The other twenty five percent of the projects that I start but can't finish are dealt with in a manner so as to create minimal recovery from a trained expert.  I usually stop before any irrepairable damage occurs and usually have the job fifty percent complete so it ends up saving me in the long run.

Anything minor or that I can do myself I will take care of. Anything that's major I will call for a professional.

Depends on the project.  If I can do it and it comes out good - Great!  But if I don't have either the skill or patience, I hire it out.  If I can afford it - that is.  Otherwise, it just doesn't get done  :'(

Often it's easier just to get a professional to fix something. So I prefer that.

We do everything ourselves, except wiring, that should be left up to the experts.  Other than that my BF is very handy.  He knows how to fix anything, build anything, and if he doesn't, her learns how.  Nice ;)

I try to do most things myself.   I have replaced sinks, garbage disposals, toilets, reshingled a roof, laid tile, replaced windows,  and hung drywall.   I don't do most electrical repairs (although I did just replace the thermestate for my A/C), or things that are in wall such as deep plumbing.
