Soda or Pop? Where are you from?

I'm from Minnesota, and we call it "pop"... I live in Tennessee where my husbands family is, and boy, I definitely stick out in public when we go out and I order a pop to drink!

I've always called it pop although I have heard others call it soda. To me that just sounds weird.

I'm from Asia and when came here my family keep saying I wanted a soda pop and I'm confused and think what are they,and then  I found out its a soft drinks that's what we call it where I from and I didn't know there are soda or pop.

I usually say soda, but sometimes its pop!

  I am from the South(FL) and we always called it soda. Then I moved up north (WV/OH/KY) and they call it pop up here. I think in my mind, the term soda better describes the drink. Pop is like candy, which most soda's are as sweet has but the orginal soda was flavored syrup combined with soda water, so - soda wins.

I'm from Puerto Rico and when I moved to the states and heard the word "pop" I had the "deer in the headlight" look! Funny how everyone is so different even when speaking the same language.

 I'm from The south we use to call pop but when move California they called it Soda.

     I grew up in New York and it was always called soda, but now I live in Michigan and everyone out here calls it pop!!!!

I call this soda. I am familiar with the term soda pop, but if you were only going to say "pop" only I think of music by default.

I am familiar with all the different ways to call soda.  I have used pop myself on occasion and soda or sometimes, soda pop.  I very rarely call it soft drink.

wondering why we have many names for it,  doing survey, they call it carbonated soft drink
