Grew up in here in California, we usually say I'll have a coke.  It refers to all soft drinks.  Same for Colorado and Arizona. (Other places I have lived.)

I grew up in New York, and we have always known it as Soda. I think that the term Pop was used more in the 1930's.

I think a lot of Tennesseans just call any carbonated beverage "coke," and then you specify which one you really want.

Grew up on the west coast. Soda is the norm around here. You might get some weird looks for saying pop  :P

I think "pop" is a northern thing which is what we always say here--"soda" seems to be a southern thing!

I grew up in michigan and always called it pop.  But boy did I get weird looks and questions when I moved out to Las Vegas when I asked for a pop.  They call it soda.  I learned all new language since moving out here. LOL  When i go back to michigan for visits I really get weird reactions to my talk.

I grew up in NY and so learned it by soda, but then our family moved to MN and I had to change to using the word pop. Now that seems to be the "natural" word since I use and hear it so often. Speaking of different words depending on where you are, I got that "deer in the headlights" look when I first heard the term "bubbler".... In Wis. that is the term they use for "water fountain" and since MN is next door to WI, I've heard it a few times after moving to MN. I also made the mistake of ordering "Buffalo Wings" in Buffalo, NY.... The bartender made a wise-crack saying something like "Buffalo wings?! Dude, when you're in Buffalo, ALL of the wings are 'Buffalo' wings!"
