How late is too late to start a new career?
« on: May 04, 2009, 02:59:40 pm »
In today's economy, there are many of us that have degrees or education of some sort, but are still finding it hard to make it.  Some people have decided to go back to school and persue something that is more advantageous, but how late is too late to start a new career?

i truely feel it is NEVER to late to start a career. U can always go back to school and do what u want! My fiance switched his careers 3 times, now he graduated to be a R.N. he got his license and is now looking for a job in a hospital.

It's not too late.  Just don't up and quit your job until you have a solid plan ahead of you and preferably other job offers.

i switched my major 4 times when i was younger...i wanted to do it all. motivated by...a title? money? status? job security?
now, i'm going back to be a teacher. that is what's truly in my heart and i'm passionate about it. Not motivated by what's in it for me but, what i can offer. As a young student, i was all over the place and not the one paying for school. now, that i'm going to school at this stage in my life, it will effect my family and finances - i have to be very serious and commited about this choice.
It's never too late and i would have to say adult learners make the best students because they KNOW what they want.

It's absolutely never too late to try something new in your life. I mean, if one day you wake up and decide that you want a totally new direction in life, then by all means, carpe diem! Seize the day! I wouldn't advise starting a new direction for the monetary aspects, though. The grass is always greener over the septic tank.

And I wouldn't just put this advise to a career. If you want to learn a new hobby (crafting, sewing, blacksmithery, etc) then go for it and have fun.

I hope that it's never too late because Im waiting for my kids to go to school before I start mine so that I don't have to pay for childcare. Then I would just be paying someone so I can go work with the wages employers are giving out now days

I hope it's never too late!! I don't like school very much & have put it off. I am 32 & going to nursing school next year, so I will be in my late 30's before I finish. It's never too late really!!

Plus, never forget most colleges let you take classes for free after you turn 65, so they don't think it is never too late either! It's always good to learn new things & improve yourself, especially in this economy.

It is never too late to start a new career.  I am 34 years old and I am about to start a new career.  I had a hard time finding a career in my field so I am changing.  The world is changing and you need to change with it.

i agree with what most everyone has already said, it's really never too late! what really matters is that you enjoy what you do and that you're happy ^_^ and i think that sometimes you have to change things up to be truly happy.

I am 32 and I am attending an online college to get a new career.
It's never to late to start or change a career. Look at the world..everything is changing and so should you.

 Good luck!

I don't think it is ever too late to change careers, no matter the age.  To stop learning for me is to stop breathing.
