Captchas
« on: January 26, 2013, 11:28:31 am »
All over the internet there are captchas to prevent spamming and to make sure that we're humans, not robots or computers. I often laugh at them. Do you?

Today, I saw this captcha "Hard Captcha is hard." LOL

You can find me on Youtube!

I don't like the ones that have the letters or numbers hidden within the colored dots.  I sometimes have to keep refreshing it until I get one I can actually read.

Most captchas are easy to read, but can be tricky because of the capitalization.  There are sites where you can get paid to type captchas but it can get old fast.  Plus, the payout can take a long time to be reached.

I think they are annoying and time consuming.

Capchas are ok, and I understand there purpose. However, sometime, they are very hard to read.

I can understand the reasoning behind captchas, so I cannot blame sites using them. But they need to ensure they're a little bit more reasonable in reading as some versions are so discouraging to use.

I think most captchas are getting to be useless in this day and age.  Most bots can find their way around them.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a bot program that gets around those things.

I guess I'm ok with Captchas, if it's just a way to prove we're humans, then I'm on board with them. I will also admit that I can stand captchas and advertising, like when you input some brand by looking at the brand's logo or picture, although I would prefer ad-free. What I dislike, however, are the ones which make you watch a short video and then show you the catpcha, or make you skip advertising to show the captcha. The Goal is to prove you're a human, and if they start showing you ads before you actually are tested with a captcha, it means they already think you are a human, because there's no way they would show ads to bots, and that defeats the purpose.

I've never had any kind of a problem with doing captchas and I know that they were invented for a good reason.

The thing that does bother me about them is that not everyone is really able to see them, I've seen some from time to time that even I've had a hard time being able to decode.

I bet they are already finding ways to get around it.  I find them rather annoying, but I guess a necessary evil.
