Disappointment

A little over a year ago, my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson moved from Raleigh, NC, next door to her father and me in Central VA.  We were elated.  Now they are moving back, not because they want to but because someone on the inside hacked into the personnel files of the company where my son-in-law works.   He was working remotely here and was doing very well.  Now Chris has to move back to be able to work at the main office because they are not allowing remote workers now.  I am upset and greatly disappointed.  It took a great deal to get a place near us, and now that is all in an upheaval.  It takes 4 hours to get to Raleigh from where we live, and I can't travel as well as I did.  The person who did the hacking was caught, but people who do things like this do not realize the extent of the damage and hurt they cause.  It is much more than just a game.  I am supremely disappointed.

That's unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear that. People like that just don't care about who they're hurting.

i'm glad the person who did it was caught, atleast,
and i hope they face a justice that exceeds your damage and hurt!

4 hours could be 8 hours, or even 16. luckily they are close enough
to visit you on holidays and some weekends, but it still must be sad
not to be able to see your grandson all the time

While I am relieved the hacker was caught, I am so sorry that all of your lives are affected by what was done.  I know just how important it has been to you to have them so near.  Prayer is a definite - I will pray for peace, strength, and wisdom, to handle this, to be able to work out how to visit, and more.  Hang in there, my friend.  Please keep us in your prayers, too.  Nothing has changed yet with my older son and situation - it's hard.  {{{Hugs}}} to you.

Yes, it breaks my heart that I won't be able to see Jacob every day.  I do thank you guys for the prayers and the support.  And, J, you are in my prayers.  I know how hard it has been for you.  I am so glad to have found you here, my friend.

I'm sorry I know this is hard on everyone. No one can predict when disappointment strikes, but we all seem to adapt and get through it. I pray that will be the case with you.

I would look into skype where you can talk to someone and see them clearly on the pc .Don't know how expensive it is .My grandbaby lives an hour away sometimes wish i had that. Well you can visit maybe take the bus if you can't drive and then stay a couple days my grandmother did that alot.

I didn't think about Skype.  I will look into that.  A few years ago, I was driving to NC myself.  My husband and I would take turns because someone had to be here to take care of the animals.  Then I started taking the train because my arthritis is getting worse.  Now I'm not sure if I can get on the train.  The steps are so steep.  I was thinking about getting my husband to take me down every other month and then come back.  Then he can go down on the opposite months.  Thanks for the suggestions.  We WILL find a way.  And, of course, they will be visiting us, too.

I feel really sorry for you, it really hurts not living close to family. I don't live within 200 miles of any family member of mine and it is always a pain to drive or fly.

I would encourage your son-in-law to find a new employment opportunity rather than relocate if that's in HIS best interest.

4 hours is all that far. I mean sure to far to drive all the time or even every week but perhaps y'all could make the drive one weekend every couple of months and they could make the drive every couple of months to see y'all.

That sucks. I know how great it is to be able to work remotely. My husband is able to do that. It really comes in handy. It is awful to have that taken away.

Yes, Cuppycake, it is terrible to have that taken away.  I guess people who would hack into the records of the company they themselves work for don't really care about how it affects other people.  Grrrrr
