If a person does each in moderation it won't be so bad.

I have never EVER once while smoking done anything I could not bear to think about the next day.  I definitely have while drinking.  I could go on and on about the medicinal uses for marijuana and how harmful alcohol is to your body (and NO they do not affect brain cells the same way), but I won't.  That says it all.

They are both bad, but alcohol in moderation is not as bad as pot.

Most people dont realize that pot is a hallucinagen.... bad for the central nervous system....slows learning and memory....

Of course alcohol can lead to liver problems and dementia...

everything in moderation...

the argument is that weed will increase the chance that someone tries a more addictive and life destroying drug. its all a matter of numbers and statistics.

you make your own choices, neither weed or alcohol have to be bad! but my friends mom always said "i would rather you get in the car with someone that was stoned rather than drunk!!!

"I was raised in a household of drunks and pot heads.

The pot heads where much less violent or argumentative."

Exactly. Have tried both, I feel that it makes no logical sense for marijuana to be illegal while alcohol isn't. I haven't run into any problems with pot, but it didn't take long to start running into trouble with alcohol.

Marijuana,,, With pot, you have much better control over your senses and actions. Marijuana defies quantification by its very essence; you must learn to handle it comfortably. Almost always it makes us hungry, and we eat ravenously—just about anything, all of which tastes much better than ever before, since the senses for some reason seem to be more on the beam. Pot certainly isn't addictive in the normal sense. For those who like it, it's as habit-forming, like a kid with a video game or an eldery lady and knitting just a daily, weekly or monthly habit. Furthermore there is no documented deaths from marijuana as to Alcohol related deaths.

I have nothing against alcohol, but if it all came down to it I would pick marijuana over alcohol any day.

People will do addictive drugs not because of marijuana or alcohol, but because they want to. I hate how people say its a gate way drug. Thats a cop out.

i think that this whole ombama and weed thing is just rediculous. weed is a drug no matter how you look at it. and if he passes this law it will be the dumbest thing he could do.alcohol and weed are both drugs and everyone acts differently when they use them. some people are relaxed and hungry but others it brings out the hulk in them and you don't want to make them angry. people can do alot of really stupid things when they are high and angry. i believe this will up the crime rate that is already bad enough as it is. dont make things worse before they have to.

Well I have seen them be dumb, but I've never seen a violent pot smoker. But a drinker? Hell yes for both. You sure you got your story straight?

By legalizing a drug that is at the moment causing crime/deaths/etc. and regulating it which will take it off the streets which puts less money into dealers' hands...how will that make it worse? Type your words carefully because we are talking about pot. Not meth, cocaine, etc. Just lil' ol' pot.

These crimes should have people put to death automatically and that would free up some space (Below people, not above, look at the list)

I believe you're thinking in absolutes as no technicalities enter your rules. It's unfortunate that life's not that simple anymore-- for instance if we were to obey #3, mistakes would be punishable by death if the victim was angry? What if #2 looked like murder but it actually wasn't and we find the evidence 10 years later?

I think people get away with too much here in America

I will NEVER EVER EVER complain about this!!!....EVER!!!

Yes...again...for the record...POT IS NOT A GATEWAY DRUG.

I've never bothered with either, but I see my boyfriend get high plenty, and all he wants to do when he gets high is cuddle and watch a bad movie to laugh at it. It obviously hasn't messed up his lungs because he goes running often. He even went running when he was smoking every day. I don't see a problem with it at all.

As for it being a gateway drug, it wouldn't be if it was legal. Think about it.
