I think it depends on the person and what they have done. I have a girlfriend who's husband is in prison. He was breaking into people's houses to get money for drugs. He got caught and was sentenced to 8 years. He is a repeat offender that needs to be in jail. He is a wife beater as well. So you see it really depends on the person and their pre-disposition. It is a hard way to live. I don't think all the prisoners are prone to this behavior, but many are. It is sad really.

You would be surprised at how many people are incarcerated who do not belong.  I do a lot of work in prisons in my area.  People are in on circumstantial evidence, but they did not have the money for a lawyer.  Of they were winning the case and had no more money for the lawyers so they are stuck in jail without a recourse.  I thin lawyers should have to take it to the end and wait for some of their money, it doesn't seem right to drop someone because they have run out of funds in the middle.

I, too, work in prisons. And most of the inmates will tell you they "did it" and have no remorse. They actually live a pretty good like...3 hots and a cot, free cable, no work, no responsibilities. We should all have it so good.
