It sounds as if you've already done this.  I'm wondering why you posted this as if it's a question.

That's what I did too pretty much. I recommend doing this.

From the FWIW department:  the first two years at a college you normally spend getting the required courses in the core curriculum out of the way.  You can do that a community college as well as you can a university; that's pretty much my take.  After that associates degree you have to go to a four-year school (or five or six or whatever it is these days) to get the bachelors.  I don't see anything=at-all wrong with going to the community college first.

Yes, this is a good strategy if you want to save a lot of money. Just make sure that you can transfer all your credits to an university so you do not have to repeat them again. All courses are not transferable in every university. They all have their different rules so make sure you have done your research before you do this. Otherwise this is a great way to save some money and get the same credits at both places but pay a lot less for tuition.

I went to community college for 2 years and found the educational quality to be the same as the 4 year institution I transferred to.  Of course if you really want to save money just hit the books during your high school years and get a free ride.  I'm saddled with a lot of college debt now and wish I could go back and talk some sense to myself.

I also went to community college and transferred to a university, but I have also studies on line and found it to a very unique experience.
If you and teach yourself some of the fundamentals about how course rooms operation that to is a good experience.
I earned my Graduate degree on line.

It cost me more, but I wouldn't trade the whole freshman experience living in the dorms for anything.

Community was my choice based on the fact I had to work and earn my tuition, books etc. Two years and then I could transfer to a University. But some where in between I fell in love and got married. Well that was that.
