I don’t care what the Academy says.  Ben Affleck is THE best director of the year.  This time next year everyone will be going “Ang Lee who?”  (If they don’t already.)

If anyone can call it shock or surprise there was only one and that was to Jennifer Lawrence for Silver Linings Playbook.  Personally I think Naomi Watts for The Impossible should have won.  No one could have given a stronger performance in that movie that she did.

Even though she won, I have no desire to see Anne Hathaway sing.

Okay I can see Frankenweenie, ParaNorman and even Wreck-It-Ralph against Brave but The Pirates! Band of Misfits??? Really?  Academy that desperate for cartoons in the category to nominate that?

Anne Hathaway against Sally Field.  Anne wins.  Let me think about that a moment.  Yah, the Academy has totally become a popularity contest.  I have seen both actresses in tons of movies and Sally has a talent that Anne would never possess even in her best days.  But the generation now is like, “Sally who?”

Really Bradley Cooper for Silver Linings Playbook?  A guy that has a psychotic break after he catches his wife having an affair (in the shower of their house no less) then agrees to be a partner in a dance competition and that gets recognized?  The Academy that desperate they will take anybody?  He’ll always be known for the Hang-over for goodness sake.  If it was the A-team that would have been something.  While I agree it’s the best role he’s done thus I don’t believe he deserved a nod for it.  De Niro as the father yes.

When will the Academy give a deserving Stop-motion action cartoon (rather than that stupid Wallace and Grombit) it’s due?  Yes, Brave is beautiful but it was all computer.  It’s a lot harder and a dying art form to do something like Frankenweenie or ParaNorman.

I don’t think Seth McFarlane was as bad as tv critics claim.  He truly was so-so but then let’s face it, what Oscar host hasn’t been?  I mean even as many times as Billy Crystal hosted he had better shows than others.  And no one will be as great as Bob Hope anyway.  So I really don’t get what anyone expects to get out of an Oscar host.

I didn't get to watch the awards.  I haven't even heard if they were any good or not.

The Academy need to redo and revamp their ways of giving awards. I do not watch them because its all to me just a show of who was best dressed and then criticize it. :bs:

I didn't watch the Academy Awards.  But I did see the highlights on yahoo - Jen Lawrence tripping on the stairs on way to accepting award, Capt Kirk and Seth McFarlane clip, Seth McFarlane signing the boob song, and Catherine Zeta Jones singing "all that jazz."
