:angel11:There are so many words that could define prayer but to sum it up "Our Father-Faith", Prayer is personal communication with God.  Talking and listening to Him.  He loves and cares for us.  He wants to hear what we have to say.  He is delighted when we pray.  Even thought things in life can hit so hard, if a person can love, honor, and support another human why not a GOD.  We can tell others our needs, wants, thoughts, and gifts and be used= instead utilize prayer as an outlet that won't judge.

This was good it was a challenge!! :angel12:

A way for a person to feel irrationally important by getting down on one's knees and pretending to send telepathic messages to an invisible deity and then discuss it on an open forum as if the person has super powers.

A desperate, futile attempt to feel like you're doing something to change life's events.

You're not.

to me prayer is when you go to God with your request, to have that intimate time with god which draws you closer to him. To be in relationship with him. Prayer is a way that we can worship God in a way that comes from our heart, of thankfulness. Prayer is a way to communicate to the creator,, who made you. To be able to ask for guidance, wisdom, protection, for comfort.

What people do when they don't feel like actually helping someone but still want to feel like their helping someone.

Prayer can be a form of religious practice, may be either individual or communal and take place in public or in private. It may involve the use of words or song. When language is used, prayer may take the form of a hymn, incantation, formal creed, or a spontaneous utterance in the praying person. There are different forms of prayer such as petitionary prayer, prayers of supplication, thanksgiving, and worship/praise. Prayer may be directed towards a deity, spirit, deceased person, or lofty idea, for the purpose of worshipping, requesting guidance, requesting assistance, confessing sins or to express one's thoughts and emotions. Thus, people pray for many reasons such as personal benefit or for the sake of others.  :angel11:

To me, prayer is personal communication and relation-building with God through His risen Son in the form of Acknowledgement, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication.  Prayer does not have to be quiet or private.  I believe that totally depends on the reason for the prayer.  At times when I have seen God's hand working in my life, I like to share the witness and share the prayer of praise and realization.

I would define prayer amongst only that one person unless that one person feels like doing prayer with someone else, or in a group or at church, it is not suppose to be for out in public or in a front of a group.

Prayer is communicating with God trusting in his word.
