I think it is great that we have a new Pope.  I am not really religious but I know that some people count on their religion to get thru the day.  I know that it was a great educaitonal thing for the children to see how it is done, I think it is something some think of as a postive thing and in a time when we are only hearing negitive.

I am glad a Pope was finally selected. It didn't take that long, though. What I don't get is why are the Pope's normally in their 70's, shouldn't they be more older so the mind can be more "fresher"  ???, however, I do support the majority choice as Pope  :).

I'm glad I was off Wednesday to see that. They were even starting to get me excited waiting for the curtain to open. It was good to watch that and it wasn't a rock star.

I'm glad he is the one chosen, he is a perfect example for the catholic people around the world. Down to earth and very humble Pope.

I wish the new Pope the very best and I hope he can finally right all the wrong that has plagued the Catholic Church in the recent past and restore the Catholic faith to the respectful status it once held.

I'm glad as well. I was really mesmerized by the whole event, and everything surrounding it. There is a few points that really got my attention. Firstly, the fact that every single person who knows Francis personally within the Vatican, have the exact same opinion about him, and the common denominator was his humility. To step out of the gates and test his security and greet people and kiss babies, was wonderful. To use the bus instead of a limousine or the popemobil was another sign of his humility. Secondly, contrary to previous Popes where they usually have starting remarks like "let's start the blessings, and let's start praying for the people" etc. his initial remarks where more like "Pray for me". Lastly, what I found the most amusing was the fact that everybody in the world was using all sorts of technology, like smartphones, wi-fi, TVs, radios, tablets, PCs, Laptops, twitter, facebook, etc to follow the event closely, and yet, the event itself is very traditional, ceremonial and stuck to protocol, that some would consider it old fashioned, archaic or antiquated. I indeed was using my smartphone and the social media to have a glimpse of the smoke coming out of the chimney, which was so captivating by the way.

The new pope is nonthing but the antichrist.

"THE CATHOLIC SAID"
We are determined . . . to take possession of the United States, and rule them; but we cannot do that without acting secretly and with utmost wisdom. If our plans become known, they will surely be defeated. — How sad will their awakening be, when, with our out-numbering votes, we will turn them, for ever, from every position of honor, power and profit! What will those hypocritical and godless sons and daughters of the fanatical Pilgrim Fathers say, when not a single judge, not a single teacher, not a single policeman will be elected if he be not a devoted . . . Roman Catholic? What will those so-called giants think of their matchless shrewdness and ability, when not a single Senator or member of Congress will be chosen, if he be not submitted to our holy father the Pope? What a sad figure those Protestant Yankees will cut when we will not only elect the President, but fill and command the armies, man the navies, and hold the keys of the public treasury?

Then, yes! then, we will rule the United States, and lay them at the feet of the Vicar of Jesus Christ [the pope], that he may put an end to their godless system of education, and sweep away those impious laws of liberty of conscience which are an insult to God and man!
. . . The American people must be very blind indeed, if they do not see that if they do nothing to prevent it, the day is very near when the Jesuits will rule their country, from the magnificent White House at Washington, to the humblest civil and military department of this vast Republic.
