Weddings/DJs

So...what's the norm with weddings/DJs? Do people hire them? Hire friends/professionals? Any tricks for finding one? Good prices?

I would ask your friends.  If none of the have recommendations, call around to wedding venues and ask.  I worked at a luxurious golf course and we did weddings.  Because we were there, we knew which D.J.s were fun and which ones were not.  Of course, we didn't have prices, but you could call and ask.
