Grandma turns 99
« on: May 05, 2013, 07:52:14 am »

My grandma turned 99 yesterday.

Going to be celebrating it today.

I haven't realized how much older she is than she looks.

:) But I hope she'll be around when I graduate from college even
though we're not that close to each other.

She's still my grandma.

I belong to a group that does teas for a local hospital as fund raisers.   I knew a lot of the ladies it the group were elderly.  A couple of different ones had celebrated birthdays and I found out they were the age of my parents...........but I swear they looked 10-15 years (at least) older.  I called my parents as soon as I left and told them, "Thanks for the great genes!"   I guess until then I didn't realize what a big deal good genes in the family were. Good skin, we still all have our own teeth, without cavities, health and great energy.    Tell Grandma Happy Birthday, with many more to come, and thanks for the fabulous genes!

I think that is just fantastic my mom just passed away at 94 yrs old we had four generations in this house at one time, she just passed March 29th and when they were getting ready for her viewing they said they would have never known she was 94 yrs old her fingernails were like she was still in her 80's nice and long and her hair never turned completely gray. She was a great mother and grandmother and great grandmother she will be missed. So glad your grandmother is still living :)

Congratulations  People are living so much longer today.  I personally don't have any desire to live that long - I'm afraid I would be a burden to my family.  You said she didn't look 99 - that is great.  What a sweet comment to say.  I hope she is still around to help you celebrate graduating from college.  You will both have a reason to party  :angel11:

Good for her. You know one more year and her odometer turns over to zero.

Your grandmother is blessed to live to see the age of 99.  Should she live another year, she will hit the 100 year-old mark.  God bless her and I hope you enjoy every moment you spend with her.

Yeah,Grandma will love to see your accomplishment. So glad to hear that she is 99 andcouting. Not many left in that era. i hope that she is in good health and not institutionalized. The  more that you do and stay active the better quality of life you have. Mine made it to 92, but she did not enjoy her last few years because of health problems. Good luck in college
