Is the employment rate up or down from last year in your area?

Not really sure. I know there are jobs available here in Knoxville, TN but it seems like there are still more people out of work.

The unemployment rate is up, so the employment rate is down here.  I know for a fact that some of that was unintended consequences of Obamacare.

I live in Texas and I think that our rate is going down. But when plants close and businesses relocate, the rate goes back up. It is hard to tell. I think that the rates are used to prove that the economy is getting better. You can use statistics to prove anything, you just use a different way to scramble the data. Can you honestly tell me you believe the government?

Employment rate is alright... A lot of HS looking for jobs usually gets them (probably for cashier and customer service)... For others I am not to sure, finding a EET internship in my area is quite hard (might need to move to Cali or NY for a better selection)

I don't believe MOST of what I read, so who knows? I haven't tried to find a job working for someone else for over 40 years, so can't say how easy or hard it is now.

The jobs in this area are scarce already, since I live in West Point, MS and have to go to Columbus, MS to the WIN Job Center.  As I am going to school majoring in Accounting and have a minor in Information Systems, I am looking for a job in Accounting or Administrative Support.  I have been searching the online web sites for such a job.

Ours is down right now, but still high.  Many here work for very low wages.

The employment rate is up a little here, but it's not really noticeable. It's still a hard time to find a job.

It is down, but only because it always goes down in the summer since we are a tourist area.  If you take out the fact that these are temporary jobs it is pretty much level, but we have some of the highest unemployment in the country in South Carolina.

A lot of businesses here are desperate for good workers.  I wish some of the unemployed who are sincere about looking for work would move to our area.

I thought about that, but you know it costs a lot of money to move and if you are struggling anyway, how do you come up with that?  I guess if you rent and don't have anything to move it isn't as bad, but if you have a house to sell it can take months and months and then to move your stuff is thousands of dollars even if you do it yourself and just pay a transport company.  You lose money on  your house and you have to pay real estate commission and then there is all of the costs associated with a new home purchase.  Moving where the jobs are sounds great, but if you own your home it's a bit tricky right now unless you just are willing to lose everything you have.  For me, I have kept my credit in tact and my assets, but I struggle to do that, so I don't have thousands of dollars to put together to make a move happen.

Up in my area of Ohio.  As of January 27th 2013 the store at which I worked in closed.  Its a brand store but they decided that our area didn't need that store anymore, so that put 125 people out of work.  A few of our people have found jobs but the rest of us are still unemployed.  there are not very many places that are hiring in my city. And the gas prices are to high to have to travel very far for  a job.
