Do you think horror movies are bad for society?

That's an interesting way to put that.  There are some things, in real life, that could indeed be the backbone idea for some horror movies.  Add in the social issues, actions, reactions, etc., and it's almost like watching a movie that won't stop, and getting more horrific as time goes.

I  agree that they are bad for society. I use to like them when I was a kid but now im not even interested in seeing them.

I love Horror Movies.  I think they are great.  But,,,,  you gotta be in the right frame of mind to watch them. If they scare you don't go.  If you are a person who uses these movies to get ideas on things,,,  don't go.

I brought my daughter up watching horror movies,,,,,  she loves them to this day.  you have to have a sense of humor about them, if you don't,,  forget them !!

Some movies do go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to horror, but I do not have a problem with it. I just don't like the long drawn out torture scenes when the victim dies. Horror movies do not have to be sadistic.

I think horror movies are great I love watching them and no their no bad for society  it the people that  think that so screw society they wont know a good horror flick if it bite them.

Agreed... Look at all of the flak that Braveheart got for being "too violent" even though the battle scenes were fairly accurate. And that is just the warfare of that period... If you really want to get grossed out, look at some of the torture devices that they used back then.

I have been a fan of horror movies for about 50 years and I have a collection of about 3000 of then   they anit made me a nut job yet lmao   I aslo raise two children who love them too and one is a nurse and the other  has his own bussiness both are  caring and loving parents   do see where effected them

No, I don't think so.  I do think, however, that increasing violence in films does desensitize us to violence in films.  I've watched "torture *bleep*" movies like Hostel and Saw in the past.  After watching so many movies like that it doesn't have the same effect.  The only thing I've viewed in the past two years that has unnerved me was a music video by a band called Cattle Mutilation for the song "Forced Gender Reassignment".  I haven't watched Purge, but I doubt it would unnerve me any more than watching the Joe Theisman or Napoleon Kaufman injuries.
