Pop-ups a problem?
« on: June 07, 2013, 08:57:48 am »
Just curious if anyone else has started experienceing a lot of pop-ups in the last couple of weeks?  I've been having a horrible time with them; I adjusted the level of security and privacy but that stops me from being able to do some of the surveys and such so had to change it back.  Thanks for any input about this issue.

No issues with popups here....make sure your popup blocker is on as sometimes certain surveys ask me to turn mine off for the survey....You may have some kind of virus or malware.....but no issue with popups at all for me and I am all over FC.  Good luck

I use an Ad Blocker which takes care of a lot of things I'd rather not be bothered with.  Have you run a virus and malware scan lately?  Could be a virus or trojan.

I'm sorry you're having a problem with popups.  I haven't had any problems.  Good luck getting the issue resolved.

You might be infected with spyware causing the popups. I use Linux so I don't get that.

I haven't had any problems but I have a pop up blocker so that could be why. Hope you fix the problem and get back to making some cash!

From what you say, it is almost certain you are infected with a virus. Pop-up blockers can be neutralized by certain types of viruses and this is you most likely problem. You can deal with this by running a GOOD antivirus program, some excellent ones are free. Not knowing your OS I can't suggest one that will work for your situation, but if you post that info I will be glad to mention some.

I have Windows Vista

Avast! anti-virus is a FREE product, or you could choose the product you pay for.  It works very well and it's not a resource hog.

Find it here:  http://www.avast.com/en-us/index

It sounds as though you might not have ANY anti-virus running.  If you don't, I suggest you get something quickly.  Viruses and Trojans are very easy to get when you're not using any protection at all.

I suggest you download Malwarebytes, too = www.malwarebytes.com - also a FREE product.  It'll find any problems you may have with trojans, etc.

I support BlackSheepNY suggestions for Avast and Malwarebytes.

I used to have Norton and still got a Trojan that messed up by computer; but  (knock on wood) have not had a problems since I started using Avast and Malwarebytes.  Been using both for more that 2 years.

I have not noticed pop-ups with FC, but I do see them on other PTC sites -- usually with ads with frame breakers.
