Transcribe drink ingredients from menu image
« on: June 16, 2013, 09:21:33 am »
Now I have been doing a lot of tasks but this particular one needs to be re-visited. How on earth does someone expect us to transcribe all of that menu for just 5 cents. I think this has to be increased to a minimum of 20 cents. Just my thought pattern

I tend to agree with you.  There aren't too many Tasks that pay very well but, if you're lucky enough to get more than ONE page per Task, then I could see us making some kind of money.  Unfortunately, it's not usually like that for me at all.

I tried this one yesterday. Not only was it very time consuming, but I think there is some problem with the way CrowdFlower is scoring the accuracy. As far as I know,I followed the instructions exactly. Then after finishing the first page, without even telling me what I supposedly got wrong, the accuracy meter at the top of the page only said 50%.I gave up after the first page.

This task killed me the other day, too! at first i thought it would be super easy, but the menus were so hard to read and the directions were not clear. they said i needed to enter garnish as an ingredient and then in the garnish slot. said i left out comments and special instructions that were apparently invisible. Plus I agree it was way too many ones to record for 5 cents. I really want to like the tasks but between that one and the "do these profiles match" ones i did they were miserable!

I do only the easy tasks...I won't touch ones like that if they require more than a few minute's work.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that found this task too long and "complicated" for the amount it pays.... my accuracy suffered cuz I never knew when something was an ingredient or a garnish and also cuz I missed "notes" like where the recipe came from, etc  lol

I'm glad I read this thread!  It makes me feel better.  I got kicked out of this one for accuracy too. It's a little depressing when you try so hard and just can't seem to get it right.  But I have learned one thing.  Even if the instructions look difficult, you should try the higher paying tasks.  I've been delighted to find that some of the ones that appeared to be extremely difficult at first, turned out to be relatively easy once you get acquainted with them.  Another thing I've discovered is the timer!  I was trying so hard to learn a new task at one point and really taking my time and checking each step as I went along.  I knew that if I ever got the steps into my head, it would be a lot easier.  But I didn't realize that I had to complete the task within a certain number of minutes.  So all that hard, careful, slow work caused me to time out without getting any credit at all.  All the tasks don't have time limits, but many of them do.
