I will say this; I have watched cats when they have caught a mouse.  They play with the thing before eating it.  As long as you have a cat, the mouse will get caught, one way or another.  In a cat's mind, it wants to know if it will get away and he will have to catch it again. ??? ??? ???

If you see one mouse in the house, you can bet there is a family of them residing somewhere in the house.  You may not have seen all of them, yet.

I'm sure your cat will get it, but I hope when he does you are not in bed asleep.  They usually bring their "present" to their owners!  Hope you don't find one in your bed  :sad1: :cat: :cat:

Has anyone mentioned that the simple spring snap traps loaded with an attractive food like cheese or peanut butter will put an end to a mouse? These are about the cheapest form of rodent control available I think.

Oh I hate the aggravation a little mouse in the house can stir.  We too leave near fields so seeing mice wasn't a surprise to me when we moved in.  However - seeing one running along the counter top did give me a fright one morning about a year ago.  The little guy was fairly plump so he'd been in the complex for some time.  I won't get into details as to how he ended up being removed.  I get squeamish just thinking about it.  A few boxes of deacon laying around the kitchen in hidden spots and we haven't seen one since.  We did however here one the other night.  Oh and hearing them gives me the creeps.  With all the stray barn cat's outside I'm surprised there are a few that manage to slip in still.

I have not seen a mouse so far this year and hope I don't either.  My daughter says her toes curl up if she happens to see one.

My advice is to buy traps which is much cheaper than extermator.  Place cheese lace with a little rat poison  and you have the end result.

Trust me, if your cat knows that mouse is in there, your cat will get it.  You know they are natural hunters so if that mouse doesn't leave, your cat will be hunting it until the mouse is caught.  Besides, you cats can be very territorial, they don't like other animals of any kind in their space.  My cat had even alerted me of a bat before that was in a box in a closet.  She would not leave from in front of that closet until I got that box down and investigated what was bothering her so yes, cats have great senses to catch unwanted creatures.

Field mice always try to find a way in when it gets cold. Its no big deal. They think your are their friends actually. If you see it peak out say hello to it. It will find a way out or the cat will get it.

Oh my goodness, I really don't like for mice to be running around.  Sometimes I hear them in the walls, and we know to put out traps.  We had some baseboard replaced and they don't get in as easily now.  We use the sticky traps and the last time we caught something in one of them, it turned out to be a snake, not a mouse.  I have no clue why a snake got in the house or why it would even want to be in there!

Hmmm, I did this post backwards.  I read the thread first and posted my comment before seeing what discussion board it was on.  Suggestions???
