Job types
« on: August 01, 2013, 08:42:58 am »
Do you prefer a job that is more routine or a job where you have
to do a lot of thinking and decision making. I prefer routine, I notice
As I am getting older, I am getting more forgetful, so routine works for me.

What do u like?

I will choose the routine job, since it seems like the easier of the two.

I have had jobs where the stress level was a constant everyday when dealing with public.  Give me  and boring.

yes, I'd like boring. I have a very stressful job I'd like to get out of.

I like a challenge and love to keep my brain working, so bring on the harder, brain task!! I am a organizer, crafty type so maybe that brings it out in me. I don't like routine everyday, it gets to boring.

I like a task that offers a challenge.  Working at a routine, I have found, is boring.

It all depends.  The job I want has no routine schedule and involves traveling.  I am all for that with that job, but with any other job I would prefer a little bit of a routine.

I tend to do some things routine in my life, but my job is anything but. I'm constantly on my toes and stressed. But on the other side when I use to do purely data entry work I was bored and the day felt much longer.

I think it would depend on the job.  I am not a fan of working with the public, which while it should be a daily routine job, you end up on your toes more often than you would think.  When doing a routine like making a cake or food, or maybe a flyer or something, I think I'd be okay with that cause there would be an element of creativity so you don't feel so driven crazy.  However, I went into programming so that is sorta a combination of both.  You get the routine job making programs and debugging them, but then again, you get to be on your toes cause you don't know what kind of program you will be asked to make.  It could be a simple print statement or it could be converting an order form to send the right parts of it to the right departments.

I have vascillated toward hum-drum routine, as I have gotten older, even though I am more qualified than most to bathe in chaos.  At my day time job I chuckle as I here frustration levels rise if things get difficult or changes come in...you would think that it is the end of the world for some of these people.  I have traded in self-employment with four corporations and over fifty employees under my belt for the relaxing lifestyle of underwriting and analysis.  People above me leave me alone because I know the answers and am fully capable of correcting their mistakes when questioning me.  I think that they have started to overlook some of my errors!
