I used to have a dog and yes, he did understand me and my actions, even one look at my face, and he knew what kind of mood I was in. I really miss him a lot.

My collie, who I was blessed to have for 12 years, understood me in more ways than I will understand myself. She understood my work routine well and stood at the door 5 minutes before and left for work and, according to my roommate, layed at the door 5-10 minutes before I got home. When I spoke to her, it was not so much what I said but more the tone of my voice that she responded to. She was a great dog and I miss her very much.

My daughter has a miniature pinscher who stays with us most of the time.  She is the sweetest, most intelligent dog I have ever seen.  She absolutely knows exactly what we tell her.  And she is eager to please, so she usually does exactly what we tell her to do.  Best dog ever!

Yeah, I can talk to my dog and she will try to talk back to. All I can do is laugh.

I don't own any pets; however, I have a couple of stray kitties who visit me every evening and THEY have ME trained very well.
Have a great day!

It seems our furry friend seems to understand us. We treat her like she's human.  ;)

Do your pets understand how you treat them, or do they understand certain things you may say?
Amazingly my now deceased wife taught a black lab to say `I love you`! Hard to believe, but absolutely true! My wife passed January 29th and even more unfortunately, Tilly the black lab passed last month at 14 years old!

Generally, I believe that pets can sense quite a lot from their owners moods. I know my cats become very loving and want to be cuddled when there is stress or when someone doesn't feel well. A simple rub across their head and watching their reactions can always put a smile on your face. My cats have always made me feel better.

My little Aussie terrier is so smart that she understands a lot of what we say. She knows what ball to get when you tell her or what bone. She she lets us know when she wants something. Animals are samrt if you give them your time.

I'm not really a pet person.
My son has a cat & a dog but he takes care of them himself. (he is 9)
I think it teaches responsibility and he is doing a great job.

My dog understands me very well.  She listens and sometimes purposely doesn't listen.  I have had her for 10 years so I think we understand each other pretty good!

Yes, she knows her name and she also recognizes the word "cat". Every time we are discussing her and use the word, she looks at us like "You talkin' bout me?".
