In the first kind of its forty years, it is declared that the Swine Flu is a global pandemic.

Phase 6, where it will involve all countries, but this declaration will have little to no effect on the US since it has already been in phase 6.

:o

Though it relatively strikes young people and the virus is nominally affective, it will mutate in the future.

It has to be an "Epidemic" before it can be declared "Pandemic."  I don't think we have reached that stage just yet.  We are definitely living in times which can be considered "precarious," at least, but let's not panic JUST yet.  Believe me, you (We), will KNOW beyond a doubt when the time to Panic arrives--and it won't be a message from the CDC--Get my drift?

NBC Nightly News's Brian Williams seems to disagree with you.

Define "epidemic" and "pandemic" and why do you think we have not reached this stage yet?

An epidemic is related to a particular area(s).  If this was Pandemic it would touch every civilization on this planet, and every person it contacted.  How many people do you know that have been affected  by this?  I am not suggesting that this is NOT a serious problem--it needs to be addressed.  The CDC, is driven by responding to hysteria, and, that accompanied by the media, only substantiates the reality that we are prone driven  to supposed "marked" events within our world.  Do some research on this.   Don't always "trust" what you hear. Let your judgements and  final analysis come from "within".  Believe me, you will KNOW!!

An epidemic is related to a particular area(s).
Isn't the flu related to a particular area(s?)

Could you also define "Epidemic?"

What is civilization?

The hemispherical parts of the world?
A continent?
A country?
A state?
A native/primitive tribe in the Brazilian Amazon?

I think pandemic simply means that it has spread worldwide where epidemic is localized to a particular area. I live in a tiny rural town in georgia and it was in the newspaper about a week ago that we had our first case here, a 38 year-old woman, but I don't know who she is or if anyone else has gotten it from her since then. They only reported that one story.

Yes, and ,,no   We are not dealing with quantitive, factual data here,  There have been "some" cases reported in Mexico  There have been "some" cases reported in Europe.  There have been "some"  cases reported in Asiaian-Pacific countries.  Yes, it has touched the world,--no doubt.  Will it spread unchecked?  I doubt it.    I would be more concerned, right now, with taking a flight on any of the international (or domestic), airlines--not because of the possible threat of disease--but the threat of "Human Error"--That's the biggest  Threat we have to deal with right now

How does this explain that every civilization on this planet has not already been touched yet?

Again, what is your criteria for a civilization? Unless you answer this question, you don't know what you're saying when you say the flu is not a pandemic.

UM I hate to tell you but we have had the swine flu in The USA before... My mom got it in like 1970, she was bit on the spine by a black fly which was carrying the swine flu. My mom had a really bad reaction to it, and was hospitalized for 8 months, her legs paralized completely. The swine flu had turned into guillans burray syndrome.

Once again the CDC, WHO and various other government agencies have started yet another attempt to frighten the masses. Flu bad, need shot, shot good...please!

Over 300,000 people a year die from the "regular" flu.

I'm 40 and never get sick, clods or the flu, know why? I stopped getting flu shots when I was 20. That was the first & last flu vaccine I have ever had, it nearly killed me. I was bed-ridden for over two weeks.

As a side note...Merck the drug maker behind Gardasil was spending millions of dollars trying to get lawmakers to make it MANDATORY for parents to have to vaccinate their girls and boys the HPV. It was stopped because there's no long term studies to show what kind of effect it will have on kids and because of the fact that it doesn't necessarily work.

Drugs = Profits & politicians are bought and paid for by big corporations! :BangHead:

Someone from my college got swine flu and they had to shut down all operations for a week. It was pretty scary but nothing bad came of it

first of all, swine flu was definitely not a pandemic. it never was and never is. like all diseases, it kills some and does nothing to others.

totally overblown by the media. and people believe the media.
