Dead beat parents!!
« on: June 12, 2009, 09:22:02 am »
How many people have children who are basically abandoned by one parent or the other.

I have twins about to turn 11 and their father has not been in their life at all for 6 years now.  Was not around much after they turned 2 but gone completly now.  Then to top it all off he quit his job and will not pay support.  The state is nto being helpful at all they say it could take months since he lives in another state.

Blah blah blah......   this about the 5th time this has happened and so far they have never doen a thign to him!!

I am sorry to hear this.  Your kids father is missing out on so much not seeing them.  Too bad there are so many dead beat dads not wanting to take responsibility to support their kids.

I've read that the states were on top of helping with problems like this.  I guess it doesn't pertain to all states especially where you live.

I hope things will get better for you and your kids.

I am not a dead beat dad......

I gladly pay my child support (my kids need things)....

and send extra money and stuff......

I call almost every day.....

and would even see my kids more than i do now if it was possible.....

BUT!!!!

the state I'm in treats all non-custodial parents the same....

they started garnishing my wages (even thought I had no arrears, and sent a check every week)

last year they took my tax refund check (they sent it back to me once they got it, but it took me 6 months to get it)

they are holding up this years state refund too.....

they constantly send me letters threatening to send me to jail if i don't pay, or suspend my license if i don't pay.....

all of this because it seems like most are dead beats.....

they don't know what to do with someone like me that takes his kids seriously.....

I despise the deadbeats!!!

Move to Kentucky.  He'll pay his child support then or he will go to jail.  They don't let dead beat dads get away without paying child support.  Especially if you get assistance from the state.  They want that money back.

I think it's important that other people step in and help be a part of those children's lives, as no child deserves to wonder why someone doesn't love them.

What a stupid state! They need to fix their system and get with the program on who pays and who doesn't so they will leave dads like you who do pay alone. :BangHead: :bs:

That is sad that he has that attitude.......In California, if you don't pay, regardless if you are working or not, the state will take your driver's license away till you DO pay.......they attach your tax returns, lottery earnings, and many other things......I have a 19 year old son that I supported by child support for his age from 10-18........thousands i paid, with a smile every month, because it is called love.  He is serving his country and i worry about him every minute of every day.  But the moral of the story is............whether he pays or not, the child will get a sense of what "type" of father he is and  IT WILL BE THE FATHERS LOSS.

It's NOT all dads.

I got a divorce 40 years ago and my wife moved to another state and married several more times. She adopted my daughter against my will and sent back my child support checks unopened, but I was poor enough I couldn't afford to stop it. Then she poisoned my daughter against me and I didn't see her for 13 years until after she was in her 20's. After I started making money, I hired a private investigator to find her and she was in desperate need, so I had her come live with me for 6 months. She lied, cheated, slept with anyone she could, stole from me, spent it on dope and threw a fit because we prayed around her. She is gone now and out of my life for good by her own choice, but I blame her mom for it all.

Don't worry, I have been married again for almost 38 years and had 4 more kids plus raised 2 of my wife's kids and I couldn't be happier.

Yes there are too many people that have a kid(s) that are not responsible enough to take care of them.  These people have a hard enough time taking care of themselves.  You have to think long and hard if you want kids.  Kids are not like getting a dog, it is much more of a commitment.  If you do not want that kind of commitment, then do not have kids.  I think that deadbeat parents are not able to get away with this as much as before.  States are cracking down on this and well they should.

That is funny he lives in Kentucky and I live in Ohio.  Ohio tells me that it is Kentucky's fault that they cannot enforce anything.

Also I was remarried this year and have a wonderful son who's father I believe would do the right thing by him.

:BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: they will remember who loved and cared for them.  and you will be close to your children for that.  my kids were ok with their dad not being around until they became teens.  we're very close and they know that i took care of them.  your children will know too.

Deadbeat parents are the worst, especially when it's the deadbeat that is raising you.  Unfortunately, that is what my mother was.  I pretty much had to take care of myself growing up while she was hooking up with horrible guy after horrible guy and slapping me around, keeping me away from my father.  Finally I had to move out on my own and get away from her when I was 13 (I moved in with my dad).

I could never leave my son, my exwife and I have been divorced for two years and even today we still have a wonderful friendship.

that sucks I wish they had done more to make my father pay child support. my father tells me that my mom rejected the child support but with how much my mother struggled for money i find that hard to believe
