It's hard to believe it has been 12 years.  I remember it like it was yesterday.  Who I was with.  Where I was at.  The look on my mom's face when my sister in law called and told us what was going on.  This time of year also kind of scares me.  I have heard people say they won't do anything again on the same day because we will be ready for it.
But ...  well, I better not finish that statement.   :BangHead:

Stay safe.  Remember the fallen.  Pray for those in harms way.  Pray for each other.

It was quite an odd day.  I still see the World Trade Centers in many movies and some that came out only a couple years prior to 9/11 ... they were definately a centerpiece icon of NYC

I remember where I was when 9/11 happened. I was at home and wasn't even watching tv. My mother called me and told me that the first tower had hit. I didn't understand what was even going on until the second tower had been hit. Then I got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach about what was happening. I felt horrible for the victims and their families and hated that this violence had occurred. I hope that another tragedy like this will happen again. May god bless the victims families and I pray God's protection for those who live in lands where such tragedies are more common place.

Wow, time flies. I was only a teenager when it happened. That feeling of unity in NY during that time was amazing. I love NY & my country.

I'm from New York and used to work just a couple of blocks from The World Trade Center.  My express bus into lower Manhattan used to leave me off directly across the street from the Twin Towers.  Had I still been in Manhattan that day, I would have been right in the middle of it all at the time it happened, on my way to work.  It still hurts to this day, knowing that so many lives were changed forever within a matter of minutes.  It still hurts to know that the wonderful Manhattan skyline was changed completely on a beautiful and clear morning.  It eats me alive that terrorists did this and it bothers me even more to know that this administration supports terrorists.  It sickens me to no end to know that a small Greek Orthodox Church (St. Nicholas) that has stood there for many, many, years and that was destroyed on 9-11 doesn't have the permission to rebuild but, they're going to build a mosque just up the street from where these towers stood???  Since 9-11, I've seen my country grow twisted, sick, and perverted.  I've seen the State that I was born and raised in and once loved dearly, go so far beyond normal, I would never consider it "home" again.  I guess it's true what they say - You can never go home, because home isn't what it used to be.

I always do. Our firedept. in Vienna has a flasher and a memorial type thing outside our firestation.  We also have a couple  of fire hydrants painted red white and blue.
