Would you marry a person on a prank if you did not love him or her?

I discovered last night that my brother married his wife on a prank.  My brother is 45 and has not a clue on being faithful.  At my mother's funeral, he had not 1 woman to show up but 3 women, and none of them knew about each other.  This is marriage #2 for him.  He said he was going to be like his father and have 100 women.  His estranged wife pursued him for 9 years.  The prank began at a card game, where it was suggested that he marry this woman.  My brother was not in love with this woman, but I have no doubt that she loved him.  I said loved him, because he decided to end it after 1 year by writing her a note and left the note in a kitchen drawer.  My question is, would you marry a person on a prank knowing you did not love him or her?  They had a big blown out wedding in August 2010 and he ended it like it was nothing and wasn't even man enough to tell her it was over to her face?  Maybe he feels no shame, but I feel shame for him on so many levels.  As a result, she had a stroke and blames it on my brother.  He has a new girlfriend now, and is pissed off at his father, who told the co-workers of his wife that the new girlfriend is "ugly as homemade sin".  He chose to not speak to him or my sister.  She told me last night that he speaks to her, but talks to everyone else.  I think he is wrong.   Knowing him, it was not love, but lust that he felt.  But I would not marry her on a prank because it backfired big time and hurt her even more than him.

NO, NO, NO! that would be playing with peoples feelings and life. Usually many people get hurt not only that person.

Thanks for your responses.  I am glad to see I am not the only one who sees something wrong about this.  If you don't love a person, be honest and tell them to their face.  My brother is less than a man because ending the relationship in a "Dear Jane" letter is worse than being slapped.  What hurts me about this is that she looked like she was ready to live in wedded bliss when I saw her at the wedding.  He had plenty of time to end this farce, but he married her.  I have said it before; marriage takes work and compromise.  If you are not working together to make your marriage work, you have no marriage.

Marriage isn't anything to take lightly.  It is very expensive to get out of a marriage especially when you have to drag lawyers into it.

Yuck with a capital Y!  I think that your response pretty much answered your own question and will probably mirror all subsequent responses! The term Shallow Letch comes to mind.  I don't understand how people can flit from relationship to relationship.  The emotional involvement that goes with a good relationship makes breaking up so extremely difficult unless a person is wrapped up in an abusive relationship and even than it is so difficult to break it off. Anyone who is able to break a relationship off with out a look back is borderline psychopathic and to think so little of a person as to leave good bye notes rather than facing them directly indicates a deep seeded sickness.

That's terrible. I treat the union of marriage very seriously and this is not something to do to play around with other people's feelings. Thought processes like this (among other things) makes me believe not everyone should get married.
