I took my kids when they were like 1-3 years old to the drive-through car wash.  Well it was so much terror, you won't believe it; I had to clam them down, the terror.  When they weren't in the room and didn't hear at all, I laughed, and I laugh when I remember it to this day.

My class for some reason decided that there were robbers in the woods by the edge of the playground ( this was in elementary school). Our teacher ended up taking us for a walk in the woods so we could see that there wasn't any robbers there. It was scary then but funny now. I can just imagine what a handful a whole class of frightened children would be to a teacher.

After a visit to the zoo, I always believed there were tigers underneath my bed. It seems silly now, but was scary then.

I got totally freaked out by a movie I saw when I was 9. And it wasn't even a scary/horror movie, it was supposed to be a comedy...Mars Attacks. That movie terrified me for the next 2 weeks. It was just something about the martians, the way they looked and talked, just ugh. At least I can watch it and laugh at it now. I even own it. But I'd be lying if I said they didn't still creep me out on some level.

I guess it was the summer I was 15 and a councelor at a day camp. We did a sleep over on the last night of each of the two sessions for those 6-12 and all of us councelors. They would lock the gates to the camp and have differant  activites. The older ones got to watch the original version of Night of the Living Dead. I spent most of the movie locked in the girls bathroom with some of my campers because of how scary the movie was. It didn't help that the guy councelors kept joking about zombies coming to get all of us as we slept.

That's funny that they were scared of the car wash.

I don't remember many things I was afraid of as a child, but my granddaughter was afraid of Halloween masks.  My grandson's father decided to put on a mask of Michael Myers and my granddaughter freaked out.  She looked up, saw that mask and took off running and screaming.  To her it was scary, I didn't laugh then, but it sure is funny now. :D :D :D

I've never actually been through a car wash anyways..

probably when my older sister use to be really mean and tease me a lot she would pretend to fall down the stairs or fake death with ketchup and Jelly.    ::)

The escalators. I would imagine myself getting to the top and not being able to step off in time and getting stuck in the machine. Seems way silly now.

When I was young, I had repeated nightmares of monster-like giants chasing me. I would wake up in the morning and my legs would actually hurt, which made the nightmares seem so real. Turns out that I was walking in my sleep! My mother found me one night in the backyard, woke me up and talked to me about the nightmares. After that, they stopped occurring. How crazy, hey?  :angel11:

I remember when I was about 4 I experienced my first power outage in England. I was in the living room standing beside the piano. It was a dark winter night. I hid beneath the piano and screamed. I could hear my twin sister beside me also screaming.  My mum followed the "double" noise and after she located us, she walked us to the lounge and told us to sit on the chair together until the power came on. We were terrified. Now I have two children of my own and I can't help but chuckle every time we have a power outage!

Getting locked in a closet by accident  when i was four. My grandparents looked all over for me. About an hour and then they heard me crying from upstairs. This was not fun. For a ling time i would not go into the closet unless an adult was with me. I still don't like being closed in in small dark places.

I was about 8 years old when I watched a scary movie about monsters in the fog. For some reason after that movie I couldn't get in bed without jumping to it. I was scared that the monsters somehow got under my bed. I would turn the light off by the door and run and jump under the covers. Funny now, but terrorizing then,

I can only think off hand two traumatizing things when I was younger. The first is a lock not working in a room when visiting family. My family heard my panic and had to unscrew the door to get me out. The other time was probably when I witnessed a car accident up close.
