I agree with most people I feel bad to those who need it but am happy to weed out the ones who take advantage of it !! I mean we are in a huge budget crisis we cant pay for those who dont need it or are abusing it !!! Yet we should help those who need it !!!

While I agree there are too many people abusing the system, I don't think this will change anything.  Unfortunately, when LAZY people get things for free - THEY TEND TO FORGET WHAT HARD WORK IS AND HOW MUCH MORE THEY COULD HAVE!!!!!!

The  1st  thing  we  need to do  is  send  all the  illegal back to there on country.  They do not pay taxes  like  the rest of us.

I know it is hard to make a go of it  on our ss, but am not on food stamps. Hubby works prt-time to supplement us. We also make sure my father who gets very little ss since he was self-employed most of his time as a farmer never stints  on his meds and food. so it is hard. We also have a small house that we are fixing up. Drive and older car,  We don't need a lot of material things. I will not go into debt just to have a new car, newer house. So the way i look at it, we worked hoard for our social security and deserve it. But there are so many abusers out there that need to be  cut off. They are able to work and should have to live on the same amount as a working person drawing min. wage. And i do not think they should be getting all the junk food when they could eat better and cheaper.
Budget, budget and get rid of their i phones. and computers fbecause it cost for internet.

Food Stamps for those in need,,,  ( really needy)  is great.  But then you get those people who abuse the system and makes its bad for the other families. We were at the store awhile back and standing in line to check out .  Couple with 4 kids in front of us with 2-carts of food,,,  or should i say   "Junk Food".  I never seen any meat or vegetables or milk.  All we seen was chips, cookies, candy,  soda, all junk in them carts.

Then we noticed that : the Dad had an IPhone,,,,,   The Mom had an I Phone,,,,,,  and the 2-oldest Kids had IPhones !!!!!!!!!!!!

Please tell me what was wrong with that Picture ?????    Am I wrong to think something was wrong with that Picture ????

I can't afford an IPhone,,,,,,,  and I qualify to get food stamps if I would do it.  ( I lost my job because they closed the store I worked at ) I'm on unemployment right
now.  It really erks me to see people like this abusing the food stamp program  :(

OK I have griped enough  LOL
I've seen similar situations. They need to revise the rules, so that junk food of any kind can't be purchased with food stamps. And they can go through the records and cut back everyone that has been buying junk food instead of real, healthy food. That would cut their budget down by a lot, and hopefully discourage some of the abusers.

While people have abused the system and it is hard to know who needs them, I think this is rotten to the core.  The government can afford to feed their children, but people who cannot afford it needs more sympathy.  I know this:  before President Obama came along, the most one person could get was $149 and it was raised to $200.  It is not right.  The fact is that the government doesn't care.  My heart goes out to the lady who only gets $30 and is eating one meal a day and a snack.  She is the epitome of why this program is necessary.   :o :o :o

It's sad for those who need it but what about programs that give food away? Can't she get some cans from that?

It is too bad that a big majority on the food stamps really need them and so what do they do the last week of the month?  Just not eat?    It is the children and the  elderly who get the shaft when they decide to lower it.  I think they need to prove every 3 months that they still need it.  They are also very strict in my state on what you can and cannot get with food stamps.  You cannot pay for junk food, sodas, most pre-made foods, no candy etc.  In our area one of the things that is making it hard it so many companies now are having you work part time, so you get no benefits and low  wages.     I think we should drop the percentage of money we are sending to other countries.   I think we should allow line item veto so that so much waste does not get through just to make a Senator look like he is helping his state.  All while he is saying the budget needs lowered.

It is unfair to the ones who need them.  But I sympathize with the people who need them.  If it isn't one thing, it's another. :bad: :bad: :bad:

I'm all for helping anyone in need. There are many out there that are trying their best and really need help. But like everything else there are many who take advantage of the system and take when they are not really in need and could get a job if they really wanted to work. So I feel bad for those who really need it.

It's just going back to where it was before it was raised.  If they would clamp down on the cheaters there would be enough for the ones that really need it.

The food stamp program certainly does fulfill a purpose for most.  I've been there.  It makes me disheartened when I see people utilizing there food stamps to get other benefits...the example of the guy with an iPhone is a prime example.  What about driving in neighborhoods with government subsidizing and there are direct tv and dish network satellites on the roofs.  I'm not going to whine but come on - we have free tv through an antenna.  I do our families laundry by hand rather go to a laundromat - gave up my vehicle for goodness sakes to save money.  I think we live in a selfish world and those than abuse the system seem to have made a career out of it.
